As of June 30, 2022, there were over 90,000 people in the Philippines
deprived of liberty or prisoners due to drug cases. Across the country, the
National Capital Region with about 23,056 cases, the CALABARZON region
with about 20,625 cases, and Region IV with 15,485 cases accounted for the
highest volume of drug-related inmates in the prison cells.

The total number of drug suspects that were killed in the government’s war
against illegal drugs has reached 6,235 as of February 28, 2022 this year, said
the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). The total value of
narcotics confiscated amounts to P76.01 billion. Crystal meth or shabu
continues to be the most discovered and seized illegal drug
