Work Experience

Buyer

Main AIM was to create profitable sales and find innovative

products.
ACHIEVEMENT made a big difference to yearly profits.Well exceeded
sales targets.

*Searched for and found a range of products to sell that were

profitable.Looked at competition and thought how this could be
applied in other areas and with other products.

*Where the product was the same as competition I had to find a

strategy before buying.

*Found innovative products that werev profitable. Some highly so.

Just knew/had that 'feeling' they would "go".Finding innovative
products is a big achievement for Me,Not just in financial terms.

*Assessed products.Done research on them.

*Made projected sales forecast to help make buying decisions.
I used past data to an extent,to help.

*Veryregularly monitored results. This was key.Very keen on
Research particularly looking at Results.Very detailed.Very
regularly analyzed results.I am very analytically minded.
Assessed changes,directions,where improvements could be.
Monitored product launches.Saw what I could Exploit.

*Market research involved watching analyzing and evaluating

market trends to meet consumer demand and make buying decisions.
Looked for patterns in buying and prices.

*Used the information from results to predict and select other

successful products.

*A few suppliers did deals where you had to buy sets at a fair
price. The problem was you would have to buy both the popular and
unpopular items. Most stayed away from it-I found outlets for the
unpopular, admittedly at a slight loss.Overall though, it was
hugely successful.

*Studied in detail what competitors were selling and how they were
selling it.Also things like how much attention they were giving
initially to a product. This helped me make decisions on
what to choose to sell and additionally sell.

*I made sure the mark up on an individual product sold would make a

good contribution to bottom line. Many, many items I rejected which
others sold because I was not happy with the mark up.And some were
very good ideas.

*Kept within budget.

*Increased customer base.
*Helped marketing department promote lines.

*Had to select vendors-who to use to source/procure and who not to

use.Who to use for certain items and who to use for others. And it
was not always based on price.

Category Manager

After 3 months promoted from assistant to manager.

I was responsible for running the department, increasing turnover
