Thank you for requesting my view to your question, Is the

Quran or the Bible more historically accurate?

Phil the answer is simple, The Bible. But Why?

Firstly the Biblical Canon of the Christian faith has been

written by 40 different authors over a time frame of 1,600
years consisting of 66 different books all speaking in unity
about one man Jesus Christ.

The Quran was or revealed orally to an uneducated

illustrate man called Muhammad over a period of 23 years
and is totally void of any new value or instruction to
overcome sin or a guaranteed path of salvation.

Secondly, the Biblical narative has a vast wealth of

archaeological support, while the Quran has none.

Thirdly there is a tremendous amount of text manuscripts

to support the Bible, over 20,000 for the new testament
alone. While the Quran bost a total of six with only two
which are about 98% complete. the most import one is
the Sanaa manuscript which is a palmist script which
proves the early evolution and development of the Islamic
faith and tradition as we know it.

fourthly there is Historical evidence to support the Bible

from non-Christian sources name Greek, Jewish and
Roman historians. The Quran has no historical evidence
outside the Quran and Hadith.

Finally and most damaging to Islam is the death and

resurrection of Jesus Christ is a historical fact, agreed by
all Scholars, even atheist scholars such as Bart Ethman
who say that the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
is the most attested fact of ancient history. In the face of
this Islam denies this historical fact, claim Jesus never
died on the cross as was simply raised to heaven.

Where the life of Muhammad is void of any textual or

Historical record outside of Islamic source material all
pointing to a later redaction in time.

hope this helps with your evaluation of the two faiths.

Is the Quran or the Bible more historically accurate?

What an interesting question. since the Quran on a

number of occasions confirms the inspiration and
preservation and authority of the Biblical narrative one
must take note of its importance.

However, the Bible makes no reference to any prophet

that is to bring any message after John the Baptist. (Luke
16:16) Jesus’ final words on the cross confirm this when
he said “ It is finished” (John 19:30) In other words
Yahweh's plan of salvation is final and clear, l of humanity
has the option of paradise if they choose to follow Jesus.

Therefore from an internal perspective of the two books,

it is clear that the Bible has supreme authority over the
Quran. In fact, the Quran confirms this when it tells us
Christians will be superior until the day of resurrection.
(Quran 3:55)

From a textual evidence view, the New Testament has

over 20, 000 manuscripts to support the early Church
claim of Jesus Christ death and resurrection. While the
Quran has only six, which are incomplete and don’t meet
the normal standard of textual criticism. for example, the
Saana Manuscript has two Qurans, one overwritten by a
second later edition and the two are different. Then there
are the taping corrections, erasures, and insertions in the
manuscripts. I mean, really, who goes and changes
historical manuscript if not for a lie? (Early Correction in
the Quran manuscripts by Dan Brubaker)

Then there is the eyewitness testimony which is lacking in

Islam. The basis is simply “Muhammad said so, therefore
it must be true.” In addition to this, the historical record
for the Quran and Muhammad is blank, zero, zip—nothing
till 60 years after his death. While Christianity has an
abundance of eyewitness and historical records to back
up the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Thus it is clear the Bible is a far superior book historically

and from a literary excellence view.

O Allaah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the

family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon
Ibraaheem and upon the family of Ibraaheem; You are
indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory.

Neither Bible nor Quran are books of history or

prophesies. There may be prophesies in both of them
which came true, however, that is not the point of of the
two books. These are religious scriptures who tell what
God is like and what God is not like. These scriptures
argue what is the purpose of life for man in this world.
Muslims believe that Bible (Both Old Testament called
Torah in Quran and the New Testament called Injeel in
Quran) are books of God. Allah is Arabic word for God
that existed before Quran and is still used by non-Muslim
Arabs. Muslims however argue that Bible has been
corrupted over years.

Muslims argue that the Church was in power for more

than a thousand years while the Europe was in Dark Ages,
while Quran gave Muslims enlightenment, equality of
citizens and accountability of the state which encouraged
importance of knowledge seeking subsequently leading
to Islamic Golden age.

How did the Catholic Church become so corrupt in the

Middle Ages?

Islamic Golden Age - Wikipedia

Please reflect on the following aspects of Bible:

The first manuscript of the Bible (complete the

Old Testament and the New Testament) is
available 300 years after Jesus, peace be upon
him, passed away.

There is no manuscript of Bible in its original

language which was Aramaic or Hebrew as the
language of Jews in that age. The oldest
manuscript is in Greek.

There was no mass language translation of Bible

until 1534 when Martin Luther translated the
book in German and it became assesible to the
masses. There were a few other attempts in the
same period. There might have been elite
translations but nothing accessible to masses.
The Roman language Latin was the language of
the elite.

For 1500 years the book was guarded closely by

clergy, who had turned Europe in the Dark Ages
as we learn from the history. We learn of all kind
of corruption in the name of religion and
subsequently there were wars of religion in which
millions of Christians died because of the
Catholic and Protestant struggle.

European wars of religion - Wikipedia

Dark Ages (historiography) - Wikipedia

How confident can you be that the book has been

guarded in its original form while those who had authority
had it were overseeing corrupt struggle for power for
more than 1500 years. That’s why today 28% of
Americans believed Bible is literally word of God, word by
word, while one fourth of them don’t believe it to be divine
at all.

Record Few Americans Believe Bible Is Literal Word of

God

If you read Bible, you will be confused even about the

concept of God, which is the main purpose of any
religious scripture. People who believe Jesus is God or
son of God can text from the book to argue their case.
While on the other hand those who argue that Jesus is
not God can take text from Bible and argue their case.

50 Biblical Proofs That Jesus is God

90 Verses That Say: Jesus is Not God Nor the Literal Son
of God – The Deen Show

There are many versions of Bible that exist today.

How many different types of Bibles are there? How are

they written?

Quran is very selective on criticism of Christian belief. It is

notable that Quran doesn’t criticize Bible but the beliefs
of Jews and Christians, especially the belief of Christians
that Jesus, peace be upon him, was son of God and the
concept of Trinity, as well as the belief of Jews that they
are chosen people of God who will send prophets only
among Jews. These beliefs of Jews and Christians don’t
stand intact even on logical criticism.

There are non-Muslims who reject Quran totally, while a

Muslim scholar cannot reject any book totally, but will
comment on specific passage whether it is acceptable or
not, because a book may contain many good things while
it is disliked for some objectionable content.

Quran on the other hand was a book of masses from its

very beginning. It was the only source for Prophet
Mohammad, peace be upon him, to invite people to faith.
He had no miracles to make people believe in him.
Believers memorized Quran. Out of five times day prayers,
Quran was recited aloud in assembly 3 times a day. For
the second Caliph Quran was recited aloud entirely from
beginning to end during the taraweeh prayers. Quran as
official copy was issued during the first caliph, and its
second and final copy by state was issued during the third
caliph, supervised by a committee of eminent companions
of the Prophet, during this time most of the eminent
companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, were
alive and many among them had memorized Quran. This
is the only copy of Quran available in all parts of the world
today. Even though Muslims have been divided on
religions opinion and sometimes the division has been
bloody. However, no two groups of Muslims have come up
with different versions of Quran.

Historical prophesies in Quran:

During the initial years of Islam, Romans were defeated by

Iranians. However, Quran prophesied that after a certain
time Romans will regain their power by defeating Iranians.

The Fall of Rome

Allah mentions in Quran that believers in Jesus

(Christians) will have power over the disbelievers in Jesus
(Jews) until the Day of the Judgement. We have known
through history that Jews always needed support of
Christians while when Jesus, peace be upon him, started
to preach they had support of Romans and the supporters
of Jesus were weak.

[Mention] when Allah said, "O Jesus, indeed I will

take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from
those who disbelieve and make those who follow you
[in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who
disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me
is your return, and I will judge between you
concerning that in which you used to differ. (Quran
3:55)

In the following verse, Allah mentions of abandoned

palaces. When Quran was revealed the most powerful
states of Romans and Iran had no threats of existence.
Subsequently we would see monarchies in Europe and
Asia which would come to power and lose power in a way
that their palaces would be abandoned and mere support
a purpose of tourist sightseeing.

And how many a city did We destroy while it was

committing wrong - so it is [now] fallen into ruin -
and [how many] an abandoned well and [how many]
a lofty palace. (Quran 22:45)

In that age people did not know of towns or villages

buried beneath earth. It was in modern times we learn
that there were many civilizations which are buried
beneath earth. We now even have technologies to see
those structures, such as those of Angkor Wat, without
even digging up the earth. Allah mentions of such cities in
Quran:

And how many have We destroyed before them of

generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or
hear from them a sound? (Quran 19:98)

It is my personal belief, may be wrong, that the following

verse of Quran is prophesy of the creation of state of
Israel towards the end of the times.

And We said after Pharaoh to the Children of Israel,

"Dwell in the land, and when there comes the
promise of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in
[one] gathering." (Quran 17:104)

Allah knows the best.

All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

The Bible is the work of thirty or forty divinely inspired

authors spanning a thousand years. Some of its books
claim to be historical. Others are narrative. Others are
ritual, apocalyptic, prophecy, prayer, poetry, proverbs and
so on. Each book has to be read in accordance with its
genre.

So we cannot generalize about “the Bible". Its contents

need to be taken independently or in small groups - the
Gospels, the Epistles, Wisdom Literature etc.

The Bible is not a textbook of history, but it does contain

many historical texts.

As to the Qu'ran, it is said to be the work of one man,

Mohammed, and to be the perfect copy of a perfect book
in heaven.

Mohammed was not a historian or a chronicler. The parts

of the Qu'ran I have read seem to me to be either a
jumbled re-hash of parts of the Old Testament, together
with various stories and fables, plus

Mohammed's accounts of his claimed visions and

messages from Allah, and his sermonizing and indeed
threats against anyone who won't believe him.

It left me unimpressed. As to its historicity it covers only

the time from his first vision in 610 AD to his death in 632
AD, so that is a much more limited period than that of the
Bible, which covers events over nearly 2000 years.

I would trust the Bible which has significantly more

authors than the Quran, which was written by one man. All
the authors of the Bible agree even though they wrote in
different time periods. Something to consider.

They're very different in how they were put together, but
similar in content. The Bible was written by many different
authors over hundreds of years. The earliest parts of the
Bible go back to 700 BC. The latest part, the book of
revelation, was written in 100 AD.

Originally Answered: Did Muhammad copy parts of the Torah and

Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was an illiterate

Bedouin, He could read neither the Bible nor the Torah,
There were very few Christians in the desert where he
lived, they never had extra copies of the Bible. The Jews
were in Medina and they were very conservative and a
closed community, they did not have extra copies of the
Torah. I doubt if there were copies of the Torah or Bible at
all in possession of the Jews and Christians of Arabia. I
consider it a miracle; Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)
had copies of the Torah and the Bible for himself to study
and copy while in the cave!!!!.

Let us assume that he had copies. it is naive to believe

that those copies were in Arabic so he could read them.
Let us assume that these books had instant google
translations, how could a known illiterate read them????.
Let us assume that he could read them, how he managed
to avoid the mistakes of these books. In Quran; there is no
serpent, eve did not seduce her Husband and there is tree
of knowledge. The Jews were very powerful and very rich,
the Christians were almost unknown , why did Mohammed
(Peace Be Upon Him) took the Christian version of the
birth of Jesus? which made the Jews stand against him,
while the Jews were angry with him he took an anti
Christian stand by denying the Trinity, finally while he was
“copying” their books he made them his enemies?????.

Let assume that all miracles took place and Mohammad

(Peace Be Upon Him) did possess copies of Torah and
Bible, how could he add “his own stuff” without breaking
the rhythm or the texture of the book. Part were supposed
to be the “Word of the Lord”; the Bible and the Torah, the
other part is “his own stuff”. Can an illiterate Bedouin
match the words of god in a book to a high standard that
the elites of the elites could not discover it.

Let us assume that all are done, Mohammed (Peace Be

Upon Him) did add his own stuff to the word of god and
published the Quran, How no one managed to produce
one Chapter similar to the 114 chapters of the Quran???.

The Challenge still standing:

1- (Quran 2: 23) ; “And if you are in doubt about what We

have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad (Peace Be
Upon Him)], then produce a surah the like thereof and call
upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be
truthful.”

2-(Quran 10:38) “Or do they say [about the Prophet

(Peace Be Upon Him)], "He invented it?" Say, "Then bring
forth a surah like it and call upon [for assistance]
whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be
truthful."

3- (Quran 11: 13) and (Quran 17:88) and (Quran 52:33–

34)

An Illiterate Bedouin managing to get copies of the Torah

and the “Bible” in his language (Arabic), copying them,
adding his own stuff and publishing a book then
challenging everyone to produce a similar copy or even a
verse is really very “unbelievable”. Adding to this, more
than 1.8 billion people live and die by this book. Can you
really believe it???

Anyone who has read the bible and the Koran can identify
a good ninety percent of the allusions, characters, and
references of the Koran as being biblical in origin.

The bible was NOT first translated into Arabic in 867 AD;
one of the oldest surviving biblical manuscripts in Arabic

The Rig Veda is the oldest surviving religious text from the
ancient world. In an unbroken tradition, some of its

Its age is a matter of dispute, since it was transmitted
