First, the reaction between resorcinol and formaldehyde in a bakelite synthesis yielded a polymer with its
monomer unit shown in Figure 1.1.

For the polyesterificication of phthalic anhydride with ethylene glycol and glycerol, Figure 1.2 and 1.3
below present the monomer product of each polymerization reaction.

For the fourth polymer synthesis, the slime synthesis, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium borate were
used to produce a gel which has a monomer unit displayed in Figure 1.4
