Psychoactive drugs are substances that affects mental process when administered into the body.
This can affect the person's perception, consciousness, mood and emotions.

Examples of psychoactive drugs;

1.Alcohol

2.Cocaine

3. Caffeine

Nacortic drugs are the drugs that have the ability to induce numbness or paralysing properties. They
can also dull the senses, induce sleep and relieve pain when taken. Examples are;

1.Morphine

2.Codeine

3.Vicodin

Reality change drugs are the drugs that changes a person's perception of reality or distorts a person
from the reality. Examples of such drugs are;

1.Cannabis

2.Mescaline

3.Katamine

*CHOICES TO EASE DIFFICULT EMOTIONS APART FROM THE USE OF DRUGS.*

Drugs are substances that changes how the body works when introduced to it by way of
injecting,swallowing,smoking, drinking or inhaling. Some examples of drugs are alcohol, cocaine and
cannabis. Drugs have their own side effect and it abuse can cause addiction or physical dependence.

Drugs are used for many reasons. Some drugs are used to control anger,depression and
aggression. Some causes of depression are loneliness,chronic illness, life events such as losing a love
one or a job and losing ones personality. Anger issues is another factor that contributes to the use of
drugs. Some events that causes anger are, when an individual feels attacked or threatened, receiving
unfair treatment from someone and also having a stressful day. Another difficult emotion to deal
with is aggression. This can be caused by frustration, fear, stress and loosing control of a situation.

However, people use drugs to control their emotions because some drugs such as alcohol,
marijuana and caffeine van make one happy or feel good when they are emotionally down. Others
use drugs due to environmental influence. This happens when people don't feel accepted in a
society or group in which they belong because they feel inadequate or worthless.Taking drugs make
them feel accepted and they are able to fit into such societies.Drugs is also used by people to fight
stress from life events such as financial difficulties or the loss of a love one.

Although drugs help in a way to curtail some emotions, its effect could be death, health problems,
financial breakdown and more depression and anxiety. There are ways one can control the painful
emotions without the use of drugs .

Additionally, regular exercise can help fight emotions. Exercise helps reduces stress because the
physical activities releases good feeling hormones in the brain which improves mood. This also
protects the body from certain diseases by building a strong and stable immune system. Exercise
helps manage stress, depression and may increase abstinence from drugs.

Moreover sleep improves mental health. Having enough sleep reduces stress hormones and helps
rebuild growth hormones in the body. Sleep disorders can increase the rate of anxiety. People who
get enough sleep exhibits fewer outburst.

Also, taking timeout helps during a stressful or angry period helps one to cool his head. This
creates time to think through situations and make good decisions if possible. It also creates
awareness as to how certain situations are not changeable and shows how best one can adjust.

Finally one must practise relaxation skills and seeking help or therapy. This method aids an
individual in calming down and modifying behaviour and also mastering control over emotions.
Therapy improves stress and changes one way with interacting with others. It also help identify
situations and create recovery processes.
