To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Breanna Lujan. During the
2022-2023 school year, Breanna has been a student teacher in my regular biology classes. She is
responsible for planning and teaching two sections of regular Biology, which includes a total of
70 students, 20 of whom have special learning needs, and 30 English language learners. Other
responsibilities include having tutoring hours, regularly contacting parents, attending IEP and
504 meetings, and attending staff and department meetings.

Breanna started the school year with observing my classes and gradually taking over parts of my
lessons until she had built rapport and was comfortable with teaching the whole period. Then, at
the start of the spring semester, Breanna has fully taken over the two sections of regular Biology
with planning and teaching. During this time, she has demonstrated the ability to plan lessons
that are culturally relevant and include pedagogical strategies that engage as well as support the
varying learning needs of her students.

During class, Breanna interacts with students regularly and treats them with respect. She walks
around the classroom to ask questions and listens to students’ discussion. Some specific
strategies that she has learned and implemented include breaking down the meaning of and
adding images with vocabulary words, providing sentence starters and frames and modeling how
to write and speak using academic language.

Breanna has attended as many IEP meetings that she could and provided valuable feedback to
case managers, counselors, and psychologists in order to build a detailed plan for each student.
She holds tutoring sessions after school every Tuesday and Thursday to provide additional
1-on-1 support. She also makes phone calls and sends messages to parents to update them on
their children’s academic progress and behaviors weekly. Finally, Breanna attends all staff and
department meetings where she asks questions to understand how to best support her students
with school resources.

For these reasons, I want to commend Breanna on all the accomplishments that she has worked
very hard for. I am sure Breanna will be successful in becoming a high school science teacher
wherever she goes. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at
