1) Answer the following questions:
a) What is an operating system? Write the names of any
three popular operating systems.
Ans) An operating system is an organized set or collection
of programs. Any three popular operating systems are:-
Windows 95, Windows 98, windows 2000.
b) Define: Desktop, Icons, Toolbar and title bar.
1) Desktop
Ans) A desktop is your overall work area while you are in
Windows. It can acts as a study table where you can keep
files and folders.
2) Toolbar
Ans) A toolbar is a graphical control elements which on
screen bottom.
3) Icons
Ans) Icons are the basic components of the windows screen.
4) Toolbar
Ans) The name of the program or document appears at the
title bar which appears on the top of the windows.
c) What is window? Name the basic components of
Windows.
Ans) A window is a box or frame on the screen. The basic
components are:- Recycle bin, start button, Taskbar and
applications.
d) What are a file and a folder?
Ans) File and folder are two of the most fundamental
concepts of the Microsoft window.
e) What is screen saver?
Ans) A screen is a moving patter that is automatically
atirated when your computer is idle fora spectified period of
time.

1) Answer the following questions:
a) What is Microsoft Word? Name any five parts of the
Microsoft Word screen.
Ans) Microsoft Word is one of the most widely used
application software programs under the windows
environment. Any five parts of the Microsoft screen
are:- Menu bar, Toolbars, Ruler bar, Status bar.
b) Why do you need to save a file? Name the extension of
a word file.
Ans) We need to save a file for future use. The
extension of a word file is DOC.
c) Define font. How can you change the font type?
