PRAISE MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD,
CRITIQUE MAKES YOU BETTER

If you ever find it hard to accept criticism, you really need to

use your own wisdom to decide and analyse the aim behind that
criticism. Someone who really wants you to improve will never
lower your self esteem and will always use positive words or
actions for encouragement. Learn to differentiate between
constructive and destructive criticism. Every one of us have
faced criticisms in life. Most of the criticisms comes from
people who surround you or the people you know. If you are a
public figure, you will also experience criticism from those who
are unknown too. If we take each and every criticism too
seriously, we would be hampering our own progress. Criticisms
are actually feedbacks.. given in a negative version.
Interestingly, most of the times, the people who give these
negative feedbacks are the ones who have never even
experienced the situation, they are giving their verdict on. Such
people actually want to imitate the ones they are criticizing, but,
lack the courage, zeal and focus towards the motto, hence fail.
So, the only way to hinder the one succeeding is to lower their
morale and confidence..hence Criticisms! These are destructive
criticisms. But, not all critics are haters, some tell you the
TRUTH. So be open to constructive criticisms. They help you
be a better version of you. An inability to tolerate feedback is an
inability to allow yourself personal growth. Criticism is a
privilege that you earn. Accept it with poise. Never stop to
chase your dreams, just because others set standards and hinder
your path to success. Believe in yourself. When faced with
criticisms, use your own intelligence and willpower, using
criticisms as a parameter to improve yourself beyond. Rise
above judgements. Remember, it takes both sun and rain for a
flower to grow, so accept both compliments and criticisms.

2 | BOOK CHICKS
Learn from criticisms but never take it personally. That's the
POWER OF YOUR SOUL!

"IT IS DURING OUR DARKEST MOMENTS,

THAT WE MUST FOCUS TO SEE THE LIGHT".

Sometimes in life, nothing seems to be right. Everything seems

to be going against us. No matter how hard we try, things just
don't work out as we desire.
Depression, Fear, Tiredness, Hopelessness, Helplessness,
Frustrations- all set in. We feel trapped at that dark moment
with a LOST- No Way Out feeling. "GIVE UP" says our mind.

When you feel like giving up, "STOP"- hold yourself, sit back
quietly and introspect. Think why did you start it and recall all
your tireless efforts you did to come this far. Ask yourself- Is it
worth QUITTING NOW?

The moment you are ready to QUIT, is usually the moment

right before a miracle happens. Remember, the airplane takes
off against the wind, not with it.

Do not give up "Hope". Strength grows in the moments when

you think, you can't go on but you keep going anyway. True
Strength cannot be measured by physical means, but by the
determination to strive in your darkest hour. The Milky Way
shows itself only to those, who walk through the darkness.
Focus to see the light within yourself. It is said, that the darkest
hour is just before Dawn. Keep your faith and spirit alive and
success will surely be yours. Failure is nothing, but a part of
Success. Keep going. It may be stormy now but it can't rain
forever. Rainbow awaits after every storm. BELIEVE IN
YOURSELF..

TOGETHER FOREVER !

Together we may struggle,

but without you, all I feel is pain.
Sometimes I may seem confused,
but there is one thing that will never change.

The feelings I have for you don't fade or go away.

They continue to grow stronger each day with every kiss.
Life without you is something I can't imagine.
From within my soul, it's you I'd miss.

I understand this world more than you may know.

I could believe in fate and put up a fight.
But you and I are not written.
Although there is a truth I'd like to write.

We both have scars,

with memories that cannot be erased,
but together we are stronger.
In your hands my heart has been placed.

READING BLOSSOMS SELF LOVE!

Oh how I love to read books,

Have a careful glance at the knowledge they can bring.

I love how they make me enter into an altogether different

world, Of self love when I feel like someone left me by
"mistake" in a town full of people all alike!

I love how a girl like me travels to different places,

roam around freely; As if she got the wings to soar high and
high and high. And let me live in my own little bubble ,
Wondrous words passing by and images invading my
subconscious mind. Oh how I love to read books.

I love how each and every emotion can be felt deeply in an

imaginative world, No judgements,no scars,no loathe, no
hoodwink And only the self love blossoms as I turn the pages.

No doubt... My mind consumes the language and character so

passionately that they can't go unscathed as if they had entered a
broken heart I read them like candy:fascinating and exciting;
And that moment is spesh in itself! Oh how I love to read
books.

DR. TULIKA SARKAR

Dr. Tulika Sarkar is from Kolkata, West Bengal. She loves to

explore and wants to spread the sort of unknown hidden treasure
of knowledges. She is an experienced writer whose writings

9 | BOOK CHICKS
have been published on Nblik app, magazines and many
anthologies.

The habit of reading books

Reading books is the easiest way to fulfill the eternal desire of

people to know the unknown and dive into different adventures.
In this context, a quote of fiction writer Leo Tolstoy is
particularly significant. He said 'three things are especially
necessary in human life, books, books and books'. Many people
express concern that people are reading fewer books. When we
look for the cause of the general public's "aversion to books,” its
many facets come into focus. One of the primary causes of this,
in the opinion of many experts, is people's growing reliance on
technology. Today, everyone has easy access to the Internet
thanks to the tremendous advancements in information
technology and the benefits of science. Because of this, today's
young society has embraced social networking in all its forms as
a source of amusement. Television, however, is no less
responsible. But as a result of everything, the bond between the
reader and the book is eroding with time. The addiction to
playing online games is another factor to consider. The only
reading options available nowadays outside of textbooks are
Facebook, WhatsApp, and a few online magazines. Even if "e-
books" are popular, can they truly replicate the experience of
reading a book in your hands? The tendency of people toward
technology is not good. It has a detrimental impact on people's
10 | BOOK CHICKS
behaviour. A healthy mind requires a lot of reading. Books are
good allies in the development of creativity and intellect. We
are losing our connection to books and developing a very
egocentric and self-centered society. But it is true that nothing
else can compare to the unadulterated joy that reading brings.
Subhash Chandra Bose wrote the book "Taruner Sapna" to
convey wonderfully how reading helped him deal with his
loneliness while he was imprisoned in Mandalay. In fact, books
are our selfless best friends. Good books are the best means of
self-purification. Therefore, reading should become a habit
from an early age. because the formative years are when
personalities are formed. Another image was taken thirty years
later. Growing up was a lot of fun. Between lessons, the kids
used to amble around the field. Cricket on a winter afternoon or
playing football in the mud in the rain were both fun. The thrill
of attending school in groups was of a different nature. There
was a joint family at the time. There were spiritual connections
and unending affection. An afternoon of tale and comic book
reading was held at the local library. A huge playground was
present. A pond was available for swimming. Mango trees were
in the orchard. There are no longer any clubs or kid-focused
organisations in the area. heading to school now with a bag full
of books in the morning. Even after school, rushing from one
teacher to another. This is how growing up goes. Outside of
textbooks, the world is getting smaller. Their focus is shifting
toward online social media or entertainment media at an early
age. They are becoming accustomed to studying late in this
way. As they race to realise their parents' aspirations, their lives
are actually meaningless. As a result, even though they were
expected to be strong readers as children, some people grow to
dislike reading as a result of their environment. How will new
readers be developed, then? In the past, parents would present
books to their kids as gifts on major occasions. And they
11 | BOOK CHICKS
themselves used to read a lot in their own time. As a result, the
family acquired a positive reading habit. It would be inaccurate
to claim that such a custom doesn't exist now. But that pattern
has significantly diminished. The child should be shown a
picture book as the initial step. He'll begin flipping the pages of
the book by himself after being drawn in by the image.
Introduce the words associated with the image to him gradually.
He should read his age-appropriate books out loud at the same
time. In this way, as his listening skills improve, so will his
interest in reading. A new reader is made in this way. It should
be recalled that discussions, debates, and literary gatherings
used to take place on campus at schools, colleges, and
universities even two or three decades ago. But today, that scene
is uncommon due to the passage of time. Another thing to keep
in mind is that there are now numerous libraries located
throughout the nation, each with an endless supply of books,
tables, and chairs. But such readers don't exist. This is a major
concern! The truth is that there is a lot of information available
in today's "digital era," where the door to knowledge is wide
open. However, there is no evidence of mindfulness or the
advancement of human ideals. Everyone must play a
constructive part in order to improve this scenario. UNESCO
has declared April 23 as International Book Day to raise public
awareness. Everyone needs to head back to the shelter of books
in order to create a beautiful and healthy future. Because there is
no substitute for reading books.

12 | BOOK CHICKS
Self Peace : Good and bad habits

The stress at work, as well as the surrounding circumstances,

are all scattered in the mind. That pressure is now substantially
stronger. Even if you work hard, you may not always obtain the
best results. There's also a nasty mood there. And currently, the
majority of people are deceitful. The level of honesty is quite
low. It is simpler to deceive others. As a result, everything is
unpleasant. Our mind is restless and we are moving away from
our goal. This further complicates the situation. We must look
to the future rather than the past. The mind must adjust in this
way, no matter how difficult it is. You must not lose touch with
your emotions. People make mistakes, and setbacks are
inevitable in life.

'Why am I not happy, or why is there no happiness on my fate?'

has been asked by every human being on the planet at some
point. But do you realise what the actual deal is? Happiness is
merely a state of mind. You can be happy even if you are half-
full in a damaged room if you can convince your mind that you
are pleased. Your bad ideas and poor habits are destroying your
peace of mind, causing you to be unhappy despite having a

13 | BOOK CHICKS
large house and delicious food. Your bad habits are robbing you
of your peace of mind.

Some Bad Habits :

1. Bringing the past to your present

This is similar to a bicycle. You will never find serenity in your

thoughts if you constantly drag your past and place it in the
present. So let the past be forgotten, don't mix it with your
present.
2. Always putting the bad thought first

If you can't think positively, you cannot live in peace. It is your

poor habit to judge everything negatively at first. To find peace
of mind, try to think more clearly.

3. Always comparing yourself with another person

When one compares oneself to another, one's inner goodness is

never visible, but one's shortcomings are always apparent. This
disrupts your peace of mind, as well as your happiness.
Therefore, avoid comparing yourself to others.

4. Trying to bring change in someone else

If you feel compelled to change the other person, give him

space and time to do so. Because if you desire to bring about
change, you will be unable to do so, and if you are unable to do
so, you will experience restlessness. This will rob you of your
peace.

5. ‘I would be happy if I had that’ - kind of thinking

14 | BOOK CHICKS
Misunderstanding oneself is a harmful habit. Human wants are
inexhaustible. It's an illness when you're sad because of
something. Remove such notions from your mind.

Some Good Habits :

1. Maintain a moderate lifestyle

You must make adjustments in your life if you are to reach your
objectives. You simply need to be more selective in the
assistance you provide to others. Sleep and eat at specific times.
You must do your assignment in a timely manner, and also
exercise on time.

2. Write down your thoughts

Make it a practise to keep a diary or write down your ideas

every day. Make a list of everything you can't say. Write
anything you want, even if it's only 10 lines long. It helps to
relax the mind and increases concentration.

3. Read good journals

You must study if you want to maintain a healthy mind and

learn things on your own. It is critical to keep yourself updated.
Do two hours of independent study every day. Read some good
journals and, if possible, write. You can also conduct any
research related to your hobbies. It will maintain the mind in
good shape while also encouraging productivity.

MANTY THE MIRACULOUS FEMALE

The weather was nice and people were busy listening to radios
and televisions to know who was going to win the Presidential
primary election. They were over one hundred presidential
aspirants under the platform of PDP which amongst them was a
female named Manty. Manty Saibaru was the only female and
the youngest among them. She was just twenty years old. Some
people discouraged her to withdraw from the race while others
encourage her try her luck. Manty told herself that she would
push on; she would not give up. She would not mind what
people are saying about her, because their words can't add or
subtract anything in her life.

Manty was actually an indigene of Adamawa State from Mubi

South Local Government from Nduku village, but lived and
grew up in Abuja Nyanya old custom quarters. She was a fine
girl, and very beautiful. She was the first born of family of two.
She was a strong girl, she is hard working and industrious. She
hated laziness even in a dream. She was kindhearted and free-
hearted. She was always a winner and on top, but never at the
bottom. She tried her best to obey her parents and pleases them.
For this they always showered blessings on her. Manty was
intelligent, diligent, brilliant and patient. She had a good head
above her shoulders. Her character was lovable, everyone loved
Manty. Almost everywhere in Nigeria. Wherever you go, you
will hear everyone shouting, "Manty for Nigeria and Nigeria for
Manty." It is said that, "it always seem impossible until it
happens." A remarkable thing occurred, Manty swept the board
in the presidential primary election. It was like a miracle to
other contestants who found her mysterious but a reality and
21 | BOOK CHICKS
ingenious. Everyone was flabbergasted. How can a female win
over the great and prominent politicians? After all she wasn't a
politician, she just said to herself that I will be the next
president and fix so many ills that befalls the country.
Fortunately, God Almighty heard her prayers and granted her
heart desires. She became the flag bearer of PDP presidential
candidate in the history of Nigeria. Manty for Nigeria and
Nigeria for Manty was going to be true. Friends and relatives
were happy. President from countless countries came to Nigeria
specially to great and congratulate her for making history.
Numerous organizations and associations presented her awards.
Her name became the song of every Nigerian. Signs vividly
showed she had already won because of the large number of
supporters she had. Nigerian women stood for her, likewise the
Nigerian youths and aged people. She was miraculous and very
lucky because God was with her.

As time went by, time arrived for the general elections. Others
were saying that she will surely win but since she was a female,
she wouldn't be given the opportunity to win. Manty stood firm
as a stone in the political journey without shaking, she remained
focused and patient. In the evening, victory became Manty's.
Nobody defeated her. She carried the highest votes. She
defeated His Excellency Suleiman Audu the flag bearer of APC
and other presidential candidate from other political parties. Her
victory made the women proud and opened doors for them.
Women's participation in politics increased immensely. During
her tenure, Nigeria was like a paradise and smelt like an
expensive perfume. There was unity and security. Peace was
flowing like rain in the month of August. Things were easy and
cheap, network was available everywhere even in the rural
areas. There were good roads, schools and hospitals were newly
built and others rehabilitated. There were free education, free
22 | BOOK CHICKS
access to medical facilities, there were employment openings
for everyone. Manty dropped a legacy that the Nigerian
Presidents could not do before and will never do. She held the
position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for
eight good years. Till date Nigerians want her to come back and
contest for president for the legacy she left. She was able to give
birth to a new Nigeria and brought noticeable changes.

A long way we have come,
Yet there's more.
Life is never linear,
And that makes it prettier.
If there was no dark sky,
Will the bright moon and stars shine?.
Behind every smile ,
every giggle,every frown ,
every sad eye, A story holds.
Which makes it rigorous.
I wanna become a scientist!,
I wanna become an artist!,
And more said my young heart.
Only if there was a magic wand ,
That could make time fly back,
To how my life was as a baby,
This thought never leaves my heart.

I amour how life gives us an equal shot,

Not like rich people didn't have 'downs'
Not like those in debt didn't have 'ups' either,
One day your sorrows will blossom a breath-taking spring in
your heart.
It all lies in our hands,
Whether you celebrate your downs,
31 | BOOK CHICKS
Or enjoy your ups,
Those unforgettable days and memories are still yours and
mine.

emotions Is nothing more than hell And even if they are subtle
But I don't want to see blues With these attitude how far will I

I will be a perfectionist Either I will make it out Or will die like

seen The most wise of this world being fools And I have seen
Rudes have made their rules I have seen money can buy the
happiness But is it enough to sell my loneliness But wait!!! The
answer to this is a big no I need to flow my tears in order to let
them dry on my cheeks And I need to be sad at once To get my
happiness peaks To make the world flow within my heart Or

After the day,
I abandoned my intimacy
Hailing the sail of practical skin
Where my emotions have no home
And my tears are evaluated sin

I was onboard of that dilemma

And these are sinking me within
Something Same your eyes have done
When I have first kissed your chin

But I've travelled so beyond

That reckon appear to be my kin
Need to choose the one more move
Whether my end or a brave grin

Love Stowed In Your Letters

Today, I saw the walls of my youth, Wrinkled so as me; with

the scriptures of, past tattooed on its skin,And a secret cabinat I
notice eavesdropping my all smiles with the white laced
handkerchief. I was swayed by the redolent mist, conjured by
wilted rose stowed amidst it, I reached to take them out from the
thick blankets of dust. But hold it as an echo said, " The fire
coating is thicker with love now burning my heart" But sooner
the tattoo of burning heart stuttered from my wrist, "You are a
phoenix; how could you burn out?" But still my heart love this
half written sonnet, so dearly, That it's hard to scrub off its gold
engravings. But love, only your letter's ink know the taste of
my tears, Only the handkerchief know the smell of my sorrow,
And only this dead rose know how much I adore your healing
touch...

The Song Of 3AM

Oh! li'l linnet, why you sat silent, when I try to listen your song?

Are you scared of me, thinking what if I understand what's

wrong?

Or scared with my question, why you sing at nights?

Tell me li'l warbler, why you waited that long?

Are you scared, what if someone sees you alone?

I feel a deep vibration in your rhymes,

As if a lost memory, you find at night.

Or you are just crying in your murk?

Tell me li'l sunshine, are you also as me, finding little lights.

It is still dusk,

So there sure be heavy gusts,

I can't cover you anyway, as my guardian angels still covered in

rust.

But li'l warbler I can't understand your song,

51 | BOOK CHICKS
Doesn't concluded, I can't hear them,

May I can't understand your language but I'll still listen them,

I'm finding a depth in them,

As I will for people to find in me,

Oh! Li'l linnet i will be listening your song, what is it has no

mean.
