SOLVING BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION USING

MS EXCEL
These days, we rely on computer technology to perform our
data analysis. Computers and software packages are used to
analyze data to make decisions. These software packages allow
researchers to only focus on which statistical procedure to use
and how to interpret the results. Researchers do not need to
perform the tedious computations and construct graphs and
charts manually.
MS EXCEL
Is one of the most widely
used computer programs which can compute or
perform several statistical tasks. Follow these
steps to calculate binomial distribution in MS
Escel:
STEPS:
1.Click a cell for the solution.

2.Click the function button(fx) to

display the insert INSERT
FUNCTION dialog box. Select
STATISTICAL as the category, and
BINOM.DIST as the function.
Lastly, click OK.
3.When the FUNCTION ARGUMENTS
dialog box appears, enter
the value of:
a. x in the NUMBER_S field;
b. n in the TRIALS field;
c. p in the PROBABILITY_S field;
d. Logical value (TRUE for
cumulative probability and
FALSE for individual probability)
in the CUMULATIVE field;
CUMULATIVE BINOMIAL
PROBABILITY
The formula presented for a binomial probability distribution
allows us to determine the probability that X is equal to
acertain value, as illustrated in the previously discussed
examples. They may be instances that we wish to find the
probability that a certain binomial random variable X is less
than or equal to a certain value (x) [P(X>x)].
COMPLEMENTARY
RULE
It can be used in solving a cumulative binomial distribution
when n is large and x is small. The COMPLEMENTARY RULE
states that the probability of a variable X that is greater
than or equal to a given value x is equal to 1 minus the
probability of less than or equal to a given value x minus 1
TABLE OF BINOMIAL
PROBABILITY
Another way of solving binomial probability Using the binomial probability table
distribution is by using the binomial and complimentary rule to determine
probability table. The table in the given the probabilities of cumulative
example provides the cumulative binomial probabilities is much easier, where n
probabilities for selected values of n and p,
is large and x is the probability
where n is the number of trials and p is
small
the probability of success
HISTOGRAM OF THE CUMULATIVE
PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION
Cumulative probability distribution can also be presented by constructing a
histogram.Below is an example of a histogram ,
where the number of trials is 7 and
the probability of success is 50%
MEAN,VARIANCE, AND
STANDARD DEVIATION OF
BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION
The mean, variance, and the standard deviation of frequency distribution can be
used to describe the measures of the center, the variations of the scores
from the center of the distribution, and any probability distribution.
The mean is also known as the EXPECTED VALUE
of the probability distribution,
which is the weighted average of all the possible values of the random variable
and their corresponding probabilities as its weight.
MEAN,VARIANCE, AND
STANDARD DEVIATION OF
BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION
The expected value can be obtained by multiplying
each outcome of variable X and the corresponding probability of
occurrence, and then getting the sum of all the products. However,
if n and p are given from a binomial experiment , the mean , the variance,
and the standard deviation of
a binomial distribution can be solved using the following formulas.
