PURPOSE – Psychomotor skills are introduced throughout the first two semesters of the BSMCON program. This document is used to reflect the student’s
experiences in performing these skills throughout the program at BSMCON. Your completed checklist will be included in your e-portfolio in your Senior year.
INSTRUCTIONS- Skills introduced in the program are listed below, and grouped by course in which the concepts are generally introduced. You, as the student,
are then responsible for tracking when skills are performed in the lab or in the practicum setting. All skills must be faculty supervised; therefore, skills performed
while in a paid position should not be documented on this form. As skills are introduced and practiced update the table appropriately to reflect your clinical
experiences while in the nursing program.
In the lab or simulation setting: Write the date on which the skill is first performed in the ‘Date Performed in Lab/Sim’ column.
In the practicum setting: Write the date on which the skill is first performed in the live patient environment. No skill should be performed in the live patient
environment until it has been satisfactorily completed in the lab under the guidance of an instructor.
Once a skill has been documented as complete in the practicum setting the skill is considered complete and no longer needs to be updated. The expectation is
that all skills will be performed in the lab setting by completion of the Junior 1 semester. As each student’s opportunities in the live patient environment will differ,
this checklist will then uniquely reflect each student’s experiences in the practicum setting throughout the remainder of the program.
This document must be updated and submitted along with the practicum evaluation tool for midterm and final evaluations in each practicum course, unless
otherwise instructed by faculty.
