Course Description:
Introduction to integral calculus, differential equations, and multivariable calculus. Topics from integral calculus
include: accumulation, signed area, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, computational methods, use of tables,
numerical approximations, antiderivatives, techniques of integration, and applications of the integral such as area, vol-
ume, mean values. Topics from differential equations include: modeling, algebraic and graphical solutions, slope fields,
numerical software and analytic solutions. Topics from multivariable calculus include: graphs, partial derivatives, the
chain rule, optimization. This course makes use of technology. It is designed for the life sciences and is not intended
for students in engineering, physics or the mathematical sciences.

Course Policy:
• Homework is not collected. Instead, quizzes will consist of homework questions verbatim.
• Regular attendance is essential and highly recommended. Attendance will be taken daily and 4 absences will
result in you being dropped from the course.
• All exam or quiz conflicts must be brought to my attention in writing (i.e. email) before the scheduled date and
time of the exam or quiz.
• All emails must include a subject header reading ”Math 2020: ” followed by your email subject.
• Behavior that impedes the education of your fellow students is prohibited and will not be tolerated.
• Do not cheat. Any cheating will result in a failure on the assignment (and possibly the course) and a referral
to the OSRR.
• Students with disabilities needing accommodation should send me their IEP and speak to me in person or over
email so we can best address your needs.
