programmes (Phase – I)
(a) M. Phil Programme:
• In the first phase of admission to this programme, candidates having a valid NET – JRF
qualification certificate will be given admission. 40% of the total seats available in each
department will be filled through this process. The NET – JRF qualification certificate
should not be more than two years old at the time of approving the proposal for the
degree of the Ph.D. by the department research committee (tentative date of next DRC is
July 2015). These candidates will not be required to appear in the entrance test for
admission to this course. The merit list of all candidates will be prepared department
wise.
• Course of study for M.Phil. degree shall extend for a period of one academic year
covering two semesters out of which one semester will be common for the course work
prescribed for the Ph.D. programme.
• In-service candidates shall not be eligible for admission to the M.Phil. course except that
Lecturers in the universities recognized by UGC / State Legislature / Central Legislature
and affiliated colleges may be allowed to join it but only after taking leave from their
employer for the duration of the course. For admission of teacher candidates to this
course, the teacher candidate must have:

• A candidate submitting application for admission for the degree of Ph.D. in the faculty of
arts, fine arts. Music and Dramatics, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education,
Law, Management and Engineering and Technology must have obtained the Masters
degree with at least 55% marks at Post-Graduate examination of the University or of any
other University / Institution recognized as equivalent thereto in any subject provided that
the masters degree should have been obtained after taking Bachelor’s degree full course
prescribed for the degree.
