The McDonaldization of the World

McDonaldization is a concept of basic principles derived from the renowned fast food
McDonald. George Ritzer, the author of the McDonaldization of Society, who believes
that this process is causing more and more areas of society and the rest of the world to
adopt the principles of fast food restaurants. This is because of four basic principles:
Efficiency, Predictability, Calculability and Control. Our society and economic patterns
have been shaped by a sociological phenomenon similar to fast food chains, which has
created a fast-paced environment in which its guiding principles are essential for us to
function effectively, work efficiently, and live comfortably. It's similar to a basic menu,
and the standard operating procedures apply almost everywhere in the world. It became
the standard, just as some aspects of the American system have spread throughout
Asia. As we can see in our own country, some aspects of western globalization are
dominant. It can be seen in the shape of our daily lives, such as our education system,
healthcare system, workplace, as well as simple things like our transportation system,
phones, social media, and lifestyle, etc. Seemingly, McDonaldization is fueled by the
defining presence of various sectors, which has repercussions throughout society.
Hence, I can say, our social and economic life patterns are more heavily influenced by
this broader globalization phenomenon.
