Start-up Innovation and Entrepreneurship Case Study Challenge

Introduction:

In a rapidly growing startup and innovation ecosystem, India has been ranked 3 rd globally. With its
thriving innovation landscape and growing entrepreneurship culture, Maharashtra contributes to
around 20% of the Indian startup ecosystem. The Government of Maharashtra, through its nodal
agency, the Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS) is actively involved in facilitating startups
in the state and promoting their growth.

In its attempt to match up to the global facilities provided to startups and facilitative policies available
for adoption of their breakthrough solutions the MSInS is actively engaged in establishing and funding
incubation centers, handholding startups and providing them with government pilot work orders,
providing financial reimbursements for costs to startups on their Intellectual Property applications
and Quality testing Certifications, and promoting mentorship sessions to rural innovators and
entrepreneurs through Startup Yatra.

Problem Statement:

However, there is no limit to fly high and therefore, in ramping up its efforts, the Maharashtra State
Innovation Society would like to dig deeper into specific requirements of each innovative sector and
technology.

Therefore, from the below list of sectors and the separate list of technologies, pick up one sector or
technology study the global landscape and provide a detailed policy proposal on promoting innovation
and entrepreneurship in the specific domain. The focus of the Innovation Society is also to look out to
promote innovation in rural areas and support women entrepreneurs.

Sectors:

• Agriculture
• Healthcare
• Sustainability
• Space technology and Defence
• Assistive Technology
• Smart Infrastructure and Mobility

Technology:

• Blockchain
• Deep Technology
• Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality
• Alternative energy

The team will have the freedom to inter-weave a sector and a technology and provide policy
suggestions to promote innovation in the domain.

We have gone through the profiles of each one of you and we believe that with different experiences
all of you have deep understanding of various sectors and shall be able to identify for us specific policy
level solutions that could be implemented to thrive innovation and further adopt innovative solutions
in the sectors of your choice.

In case you are declared as the winner, and during your internship period, your policy suggestion
requires inputs from sector-relevant experts and Government officials, we shall help you make those
connects and make your suggestions wholesome to implement.

Submission guidelines:

1. Submit a single pdf with detailed policy proposal


2. The submission must at least include:
• clearly identified sector/technology to promote innovation,
• Global landscape,
• Analysis for promotion of innovation in the chose sector/technology,
• Current existing policies,
• Gap analysis,
• Policy suggestions,
• Existing models in India (if any),
• Recommendations
