Q1. A pair of helical gears consists of a 25 teeth pinion meshing with a 50 teeth gear. The
normal module is 4 mm. Find the required value of the helix angle, if the centre distance is
exactly 165 mm.
Q2. A helical gear drive shown in Fig. 1 transmits 20 kW power at 1440 rpm to a machine
input shaft running at 360 rpm. The motor shaft pinion has 18 teeth, 20O normal pressure angle
and a normal module of 4 mm and 30o right hand helix. Determine all dimensions of the gear
and the pinion. Take b=1.2 pa.
