Reflection Essay for Staff Development and Training

Student Learning Outcome Area:

Employee development and career planning of Organizational development aims to


improve the long-term performance and health of the institution while enhancing employee lives.
The focus is on organizational culture, which affects how people work by reducing barriers and
boosting motivation in environments where there is a culture of constant development and it is
ingrained in daily life. Individual employees and executives are empowered by training and
organizational growth, which also aligns shared by our discussant.

I learned that ...

I found out from our classmate(s) that employee development is an ongoing process that
entails attempting to shape our professionals into their next position of responsibility.
Additionally, each employee's personal development plan is used. The development of your
personality, self, and attitude toward future problems is the most crucial component of this facet.
An internet post claims that regardless of their particular circumstances, "demonstrating your
investment in your employees will go a long way toward motivating and retaining them,
regardless of their unique circumstances."(Hosmer, 2015). As a result, I was able to put what I
had learnt in the class into practice by putting in place to our discussant input to assist myself and
Co-workers in picking up new skills and assessing how effectively they had mastered them. My
favorite aspect of the class discussion is the competitive element we incorporate by testing how
well the new hires can improve and adjust from the new environment.

I learned this when ...

In the Department of Education, we have a unified system to handle concerns and issues
regarding personnel development, but not all schools in the said organization have correctly
interpreted the system. Through my personal experience transferred with three schools in seven

years in the DepEd, I have observed the different process and style in managing personnel
growth and development.

In general, understanding staff/personnel development depend on the management system of an


organization.

This learning matters ...

Learning of staff development and welfare matter because the employee morale is
another advantage of employee training. They may already be proficient in their duties;
employees may view their existing roles to be less demanding. As a result, they may not feel as
important or valuable to the department or the overall organization. Coaching and mentoring are
appropriate methods to share fresh insights with employees because they are prone to learning
new ways to do their tasks more effectively. Employee training programs that include current
trends and research in their respective industries can be used to give these coaching and
mentoring programs. If carefully thought out and conducted, these training sessions can increase
the employees' desire to come up with novel ways to carry out their duties.

In light of this learning ...

In actuality, some administrators view these beneficial staff training and development
programs as an additional burden because the construction of the programs as a whole can
consume a lot of time, money, and other resources. Organizations that primarily focus on
financial compensation risk being caught off guard because employee training is correlated with
employee retention. They fail to recognize the value of funding staff training and development
because they are the most important resource for the business. If business owners choose to
engage in this new venture, they will observe the advantages for their staff members and benefit
financially from investing in employee development.
