The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global call to action to make the world a more just, equitable,

and equitable place. In 2015, all United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development. This agenda includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which serve as a shared
framework for a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future. While all of the SDGs are interconnected,
because they focus on the central goals of preventing blindness and restoring sight.

The 17 SDG’s;

14. Life Below Water
15. Life on Land
16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
17. Partnerships for the Goals

Blindness restoration and prevention are inextricably linked to other international development issues such as
education, access to safe drinking water, gender equality, and overall health and well-being. Operation
Eyesight is an international development organization that collaborates with local governments and hospitals
to bring eye health care to remote and underserved communities.
