Coherent manipulation of an Andreev spin qubit

HISTORY:

THEORY

--------------------

- Nazaroz, Russian theoretician calculated the spinful Andreev quantum dot.

XOR operation with two qubits along with single-qubit operations sufficient
to build up an arbitrary complex universal quantum computer
----------------------------

Spin up and spin down state of the q-bit generate a different current, this can be detected with a
loop. This is how is generally measured the state of a SC q-bit (2010).

Two qubits can be included in a superconducting circuit, such that the spin-dependent supercurrents
interact magnetically.

EXPERIMENTALS

Circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) allows spatially separated superconducting qubits to

interact via a superconducting microwave cavity that acts as a ‘quantum bus’, making possible two-
qubit entanglement and the implementation of simple quantum algorithms

Andreev level = fermionic mode in a SNS junction (kukil). Can be excited tunneling a bogoiubov
quasiparticle (fermion), when excited a josephson current is measured. (prepare slide)

PROPOSAL possible q-bit in the spin this QP.  Andreev q-bit, carrying a spin dependent
supercurrent. Advantage:

- this is a step forward from charge confinement only, where spin cannot be manipulated,
only 2 quasiparticles excitations are possible. (check lit)
- Stronger coupling of the spin and the microwave resonator. (check lit)
ESPERIMENT:

- Initialized the ASQ with cQED measurement (22)

- Controlled the transitions in a lambda system (side) driven by field through a Raman
transition.
