Abrasion Disaster in South Minahasa and Aspects of

Psychological Handling in It
The disaster caused by abrasion hit the coast of Amurang Beach, South Minahasa Regency, South
Sulawesi. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 15 at around 14.00 WITA. There were no fatalities
in the abrasion. According to records, 31 residents' houses were reportedly affected, bridges and
lodgings. The building collapsed due to coastal abrasion, forcing 266 heads of families to evacuate. It is
known that abrasion is the erosion of coastal areas caused by waves and ocean currents that are
destructive in nature. If left unchecked, the erosion can flood the area around the coast.

The emergency response status has now been set for the next 14 days starting on Wednesday, June 15
yesterday to support the acceleration of handling the impact of abrasion in coastal areas.

Dozens of Residents' Houses collapsed. A total of 31 houses, roads and bridges collapsed due to
abrasion on the coast of Amurang Beach, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, Wednesday, June
15 yesterday. Based on data from the Manado SAR Agency, the abrasion, which occurred at around
15.00 WITA, destroyed 15 houses, bridges and roads. Meanwhile, coastal abrasion caused bridges and
boulevard roads as well as coastal safety walls along with several residents' houses to sink. Head of
Basarnas Manado, Suhri Sinaga, through Public Relations Feri Ariyanto, said that for now Jalan
Boulevard was closed as a precaution in case of further landslides.
