ENG B1 SYLLABUS
1.Course Overview:

The aim of this module is to support students to acquire English language proficiency level B1 (CEFR) which corresponds to independent users
of the English language i.e. those who have the necessary fluency to communicate without an effort with native speakers.

2. Course Objective:The aim of this course is to prepare the students in a 7weeks education program so that they can:
● understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
● deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
● produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.

● describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

3. Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to

● understand straightforward factual information about common every day

and explain why something is a problem.

to arise whilst travelling.
● enter unprepared into conversation of familiar topics, express personal
opinions and exchange information on topics that are familiar, of personal
interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and
current events)

● reasonably fluently sustain a straightforward description of one of a variety


of subjects within his/her field of interest, presenting it as a linear sequence
of points

● convey information and ideas on abstract as well as concrete topics, check

4.Methodology

A learner centered approach where teachers act as a facilitator and learners take an active role in their learning. is encouraged Maximum
participation of learners is encouraged with the help of collaborative learning.

5.Blended Learning

In order to optimize the learning outcome, we have included BLENDED learning in our program where 50 per cent of the lessons are delivered
online and 50 percent are delivered face to face. Our program is designed in a way that technology (online tools) complements and enhances face
to face learning.

6. Method

An eclectic approach is used where mainly Communicative Language Teaching and Task Based Learning principles are encouraged

8.Assessment Methods

● During a 7-week course, students gather points from the following (Total: 200 points)

Attending %90 of the lessons and above 10 points

Writing portfolio 30 points (3 topics)
Final 100 points
Total: 200 points
The students who collect 100/200 can proceed to the next level. The students who cannot gather 100 points out of 200 repeat the
module.
