Analyze how visual and multimedia elements contribute to the

I. INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT

Do you enjoy looking at pictures in a book? How about reading a book on a tablet
and listening to a recording of a story?

Visual elements are images such as photographs, drawings, illustrations or

diagrams. When you are reading a story, illustrations that go with the story can
help us better understand the words in the text. It can enhance or increase our
understanding.

Multimedia elements combine more than one type of medium, typically in digital
form such as on computers, audio players, tablets, smartphones, and other
technology. These elements help the reader use sight, sound, and sometimes even
other senses to experience what they are reading. Examples of multimedia
elements include video, audio recordings and sound effects, and other interactive
images.

2
Visual and multimedia elements can help readers clarify meaning while reading in
many ways. An example is watching a movie while listening to the audio and
reading subtitles written on the screen.

The Two Goats

Two Goats, frisking gaily on the rocky
steep of a mountain valley, chanced to
meet, one of each side of a deep chasm
through which poured a mighty
mountain torrent. The trunk of a fallen
tree formed the only means of crossing
the valley, and on this not even two
rabbits could have passed each other in
safety. The narrow path would have
made the bravest tremble. Not so our
goats. Their pride would not permit
either to stand aside for the other.

One set her foot on the log. The other did likewise. In the middle they met horn to
horn. Neither would give way, and so they both fell, to be swept away by the
roaring torrent below.

C. How does the illustration help express the main idea of the story?
