    Retrieval tools: spears and overshot

    The tool that latch onto the fish down hole is often called a retrieval tool.
    There are two main types of retrieval tool:
    1-spears: to latch into an internal fishing neck profile
    2-overshot: to latch onto an external fishing neck profile.

    A spear retrieval tool also exists for latching internally on fish with no fishing profile This tool uses
    slips that bite into the ID of a cylindrical

    fish.
