Ethical Considerations

Recent technological advancements, particularly in the field of healthcare technology,

have risen to the fore to aide healthcare providers in effectively managing their patients by
reducing the risks associated with personal contact, waiting in crowded rooms or laboratory
facilities, and hospital visits. To meet these demands, mobile health information and sensing
technologies, called mHealth, have gained popularity.
Presently, mHealth can be used in the form of handheld devices, wearables, as well as
other devices that will allow people to continue with their daily lives while sending valuable
information about an array of parameters back to the server/application.
In lieu with this, the ECure device was developed to assist patients with health-related
issues in monitoring their blood glucose and nutrient levels in the comfort of their homes. To
avail the service of this innovation, the user must download the application on their mobile
devices and fill out the necessary data including their personal as well as medical information.
The subscriber must also read and acknowledge the terms and conditions stated upon
subscription to ECure. The application is equipped with data security systems to ensure that the
patient’s information are safeguarded and are kept confidential. All data provided by the user is
only available on the user’s interface upon logging in to their accounts and are all password
encrypted.
