WHAT IS A FRIEND?
Amigurumi means "Knitted Plush" is a technique originating in Japan and is a doll made in
crochet or crochet, which is the same, of different models and sizes. They can be both animals,
characters, dolls, plants and a etcetera of things that cover all your imagination.

Where does the term Amigurumi come from?

It is nice to know a little about the origin, the meaning that these dolls have and how this
wonderful technique was created. The Amigurumi boom began in the 90s in Japan and from
there it spread to the whole world.
Japanese tradition gives it a meaning far beyond the simple woven doll. For them it is an artisan
tradition and is part of the Kawaii culture, which means: beautiful, adorable, very tender.
For them, it is not only a simple toy, but what the Amigurumis try to achieve is to feed the Spirit
of the child that we all carry inside. According to the Japanese tradition, each Amigurumi has a
soul and it will accompany us and will be our friend and confidant for life, providing protection
and comfort in all stages of sadness or confusion in our lives. They are also often used as
personal amulets and it is common to see them in offices, as a personal ornament, representing
a symbol of attachment and remembering that we are alive and that we must live happily by
taking short breaks, smiling when we see them and making us feel happy when we feel sad. or
with stress.
The fact of seeing an Amigurumi so worked, so adorable and tender makes us want to have
one.
I couldn't tell you which was the first Amigurumi created but there are millions of them in shapes
and sizes. One of the most classic Amigurumis are the Amineko. It is a cat that can be woven in
any color and with a rather peculiar expression.

We can classify Amigurumis into three trends: Classic amigurumis with bodies and long, thin
limbs, without expression or many details. Similar to the old rag dolls.

The Kawaii Amigurumis, these are smaller and are usually more stubborn, with bright or soft
colors, depending on taste, decorated with many details and with applications with fabrics, felt,
etc.

The Geek Amigurumis allow you to create anything, such as cartoons, console characters, in
short, the character you like can be made an amigurumi.
