According to the case study of Athlete’s Warehouse, and based on the SWOT analysis, we

can identify some strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that led the store to

meet its fate.

When thinking about the strengths, we can note that:

1. It would have had a strong reputation and credibility in the local community due to

its focus on sports performance products, expert assistance and personalized

attention to people that were into some type of sports that no one else was offering.

2. Skilled and knowledgeable salespeople and staff who are experts in sports

performance, and their merchandise who would be able to offer their customers,

tailored-made products that will fulfill their needs.

3. Prime location.

Some weaknesses would be:

1. High prices may limit accessibility to a wider customer base, particularly for those

who cannot afford their services such as teenagers.

2. Limited marketing and advertising efforts may hinder potential business growth and

expansion.

3. One of them would have had to work for free and this would not have been possible

to maintain for a long time.

The opportunity areas they could have taken advantage of are:

1. The creation of a store with expert assistance and personalized attention that

nobody else had.

2. Developing partnerships with local schools, sports teams, and organizations could

lead to new business opportunities.

3. The increasing popularity of personalized attention and good products, presents an

opportunity to expand services to non-athletes seeking to improve their fitness

levels.

Threats:

1. Competition from larger, well-established sports performance training facilities

could threaten Athlete’s Warehouse’s market share.

2. Economic downturns could lead to reduced spending on discretionary services such

as sports performance training.

3. Changes in regulations or laws regarding in the towns, could hinder their

investment.
