I wholly support his/her request for an exemption from vaccination as a conscientious objector, a position he/she holds on
account of the direct, or indirect, use of aborted fetal cell lines in the testing or production of all currently available
vaccines.
Our Synod of Bishops in Greece, the parent body of our own Church in North America, took up these very same concerns
in their meeting this past March, and published a statement (link below) on March 30, noting that, "The Holy Synod
... expresses its categorical opposition to the creation of human embryonic cell lines deriving from abortion for any
purpose or reason whatsoever” (translation of the Greek original, paragraph 3). Simply put, anything associated with
abortion is abhorrent to us.
Our Church recognizes the sanctity of the human conscience, which very often serves the faithful as the voice of God. In
the particular issue of the development or use of the current batch of fetal cell lines—all in some manner related to an act
of abortion-____________________________________concerns are consistent with those expressed by his/her
Church’s hierarchical administration.
Sincerely,
