GPS

Global Positioning System (GPS) is a technology that makes it easier for humans to navigate when
driving or walking. At the beginning of its development, GPS technology was used for global navigation
systems for military vehicles, both land and air. While the use of GPS for civilians at that time was still
limited. But now, GPS technology can be used by everyone who has a smartphone and internet
connection.

Before the discovery of GPS to track locations, ancient people used natural signs such as trees or
mountains as directions to find directions. However, this sign is actually not the right thing to determine
the location of an object. That nature can change due to various factors, such as natural disasters that
can remove these signs.

Launching from Aerospace, the invention of GPS began when Russia launched Sputnik, the first satellite
to successfully orbit the earth in 1957. When Sputnik orbits the planet, the satellite emits radio signals.
A group of scientists at the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) at Johns Hopkins University observed a
strange phenomenon: the frequency of the radio signals transmitted by Sputnik increased as the
satellite approached, and the frequency of the signals decreased as it moved away.
