He said, “not to boast of one’s own good so as

not to risk being deprived of the heavenly

reward.”

Doing something good to others, however big or small, makes us also feel
good and worthy. Sometimes, we thought that someone needs to see us doing
these good things to others, maybe because we need to receive praises from
them for self-fulfillment. However, we all have this point in life, when we ask
ourselves “Do I really need to prove myself to anyone? Do I really need their
praises for them to fully accept me? And then, we realized that the answer will
be ‘No, you do not need to.” Just like what Jesus did for us, dying on the cross
and gave His entire self for us—we can also give ourselves to others by helping
them silently. Especially, in these times, where COVID-19 and the possibilities
of Taal Volcano eruption, we can help each other, hand by hand. We do not
need to seek human recognition for works of mercy because “God sees in secret
the good in us, and in secret, He will reward us”.
