Rationale: Infographic

In an age of technological advancements and fast-paced information, many are not

looking to read a whole essay discussing a topic. The majority of society wants information at

their fingertips. So, when choosing multimodality to transfer my research paper, I felt that an

infographic would be my best option. I chose the genre of an infographic because I know our

generation appreciates easy-to-read information. Also, info graphs are fun to make, as you can

choose different colors and little symbols to present the information you want to show.

Furthermore, the conventions of this infographic are all from a blue color pallet. The

infographic discusses the stress lawyers feel, and I felt that softer colors would make the

infographic more readable. The lettering and font are white in an easy-to-read font. The

infographic presents three ways lawyers are stressed: the main subject is in bold font with a

symbol beside each title. One symbol is a woman holding notes, then a scale to show balance or

unbalance in the system they work in, and a man stressed out at his desk. All three symbols are

also in a blue color palette and added groovy designs around the base of the infographic. These

conventions allowed me to explain my research paper in a non-paper form.

Additionally, the typical audience for this genre is young adults, prelaw students, and

lawyers. I would place this artifact in a professor’s class, the hallway in your law firm, or

anywhere on the internet. I am accounting for these genre conventions by giving descriptions to

give more information on what I am presenting. I would say I adapted the research from my

essay to this infographic. An infographic cannot contain a plethora of information. It must be

condensed but still eye-catching. The main audiences are young lawyers and future lawyers

because the infographic is to acknowledge stressors, and the infographic will most likely catch

their attention.

Lastly, this infographic could show a lawyer what they are probably feeling and then

allow them to look at research following it up. This genre matches my audience because young

adults who are lawyers or aspiring lawyers use technology as their source of information and like

to gain it fast. This infographic is perfect for this type of audience because it is easy to read and

understand. The genre for this infographic is the best for this project because it does not require

the audience to read something so long or put so much time into understanding the concept. The

aspect I am focusing on in this project is to provide a slip of information in a relevant form that

our generation will understand and consume. I want my audience to see some issues that stress

lawyers out from the research I conducted in project two. It is a conventional way to see what

stresses out lawyers in a fun and digital approach that most of our generation now receives

information. Overall, my infographic presents a unique and easy way for people to find some of

the few stressors in a lawyer's career.
