Group Project Guidelines

Spring 2023
Business Communication
(BUS 2122)

Project Theme: Prepare a report on business communication process, procedures and problems with
reference to any particular local or multinational company operating in Bangladesh. The organization
must be an established and operational organization and not any fictitious one. The analysis should be
carried out by conducting an interview with a manager in the respective field of that particular
organization.

For a more specific checklist you must include the following:


 You must have a purpose/problem statement that you are addressing.
 You can state your problem/purpose statement in any of the three formats that we discussed in
class.
 Briefly provide the context of the communication issue that you are addressing in your purpose
statement and explain why it is important to explore it.
 Do your research (look up into the internet what are communication issues in an organization
that hampers smooth running of the business) and find out the factors that affect communication
issues in your specific organization.
 Mention the different types of research you are undertaking in details. (Both Primary and
Secondary)
 Expand the factors found from your research. Try to relate the theoretical perspectives taught in
class with the issue found in your specific organization.
 Interpret your findings. Please follow the guidelines provided in chapter 11 & 12.
 Provide recommendations.
 Conclude with a summary of what has been done and what you have found.
 Include the name, contact and business card and attach picture(along with the group
members)of those you have interviewed in the Appendix

You are required to:

in class. Make sure to include subtopics/hypothesis in this section as per class discussion.
6. Recommendations- Make realistic professional recommendations
7. Conclusion
8. References
9. Appendix
Writing Style

 Formal/ professional formatting


 Use appropriate headings and sub-headings.

Marking will be based on the following criteria:

 Well structured and referenced report paper


 Must conduct a dedicated research for this topic
 Must maintain high level of professionalism in delivering your presentation
 Use appropriate introduction/welcome and equipped with clear plan/outline, delegation
and structure
 Use appropriate body language, eye contact, voice (clarity, projection and pace) and
groomed professionally
 Quality of the theoretical concepts or models used to demonstrate knowledge in the topic
 Relevant examples or evidence used to support the report
 Demonstrate creative/innovative ideas
 Sticking to time and ability to handle questions
