At t > 0, circuit becomes as shown in Fig. P5.40(c). Source transformation and
reduction leads to equivalent circuit in Fig. P5.40(d) with
V0′ = I0 R1 −V0 = 6 × 10−3 × 4 × 103 − 18 = 6 V,
R′ = R1 + R2 = 14 kΩ.
τ = R′C = 14 × 103 × 2 × 10−4 = 2.8 s.
υ (∞) = V0′ = 6 V.
Hence,
υ (t) = υ (∞) + [υ (0) − υ (∞)]e−t/τ
= [6 + [−18 − 6]e−0.36t ]
