A. Introduction Day 1 Front Office Tools, Equipment and Paraphernalia
Panimula 60 mins Knowing the different tools, equipment, and paraphernalia in an office is essential.
Tools are a device that aids in accomplishing the task. Equipment is designed for a
specific purpose, while paraphernalia can be defined as furnishings or accessory items.
1. Computers– very essential in front office for it is used to monitor bookings and
reservation, check-in and checkout of guests, create bills and invoices, record
guest expenditures.
3. Credit Card Machine/Debit Card machine– are used to collect payments from
customers who wish to pay by credit or debit.
10. Room rack is where registration records are kept. It is considered as the most
important piece of front office equipment. Sometimes, it is also array of metal file
pockets designed to hold room rack slips that display guest and room status
information. When key slots are added to the room rack, it serves as a
combination of room and key rack. Front Desk Officers normally use room rack
slips information to match available rooms with guests needs during the
registration process.
11. Folio Tray or folio bucket is where the guest folios are stored and arranged by
guestroom numbers. Guest folios remain in the tray throughout the occupancy
stage of the guest cycle, except when they are used in posting transactions. A
second folio trays is normally located in the hotel’s accounting office. Once the

12. Luggage Trolley- is used to carry luggage and commonly used in the hotel lobby

15. Key Card– similar to credit card that electronically unlock the door of the rooms
in the hotel.
17. Room Keys– use as room keys in case there is no key cards.
