Lesson Sequence:
● Begin lesson with introducing topic (working with angles and lines today)
● Cover materials to be used (will be writing in toolkit later on, starting with AngLegs)
○ AngLegs are materials of CSU, be careful and respectful.
○ Give 3-5 minutes for student’s to play around. Challenge them to create different shapes, some they
know, some unusual ones
● Begin explaining activity.
○ Students will create a parallelogram with AngLegs (use two sets of two different colors, i.e. two
blues two reds). Give a presentation of how this may look.
○ Pairs or groups should designate someone to be the “recorder,” then together label the angles and
begin to find them using the given protractors.
○ Notice and Wonder, what is going on with the angles? Are there any special relationships?
○ If students finish early and properly identify relationships, ask them to extend their lines past the
parallelogram. Does anything change? What sort of relationships come up with these new angles?
● Lecture (Toolkit)
○ Have students grab their toolkits
○ Using the board, draw out a transversal line intersecting two parallel lines. Label angles. Give
vocabulary and definitions
● Problems
○ Hand-out worksheets. Students will work in groups for the rest of the time.
○ If students finish early, give them the chance to explore deeper with AngLegs, creating new shapes
and measuring out angles. Can they create something to help them deeper understand previous
concepts?
