1.4 Product Composition

The air conditioner is composed of a compressor, throttle, internal fan, external fan,
evaporator, condenser, and electric control component.

Figure 1-1 System composition

1.5 Working Principles

When the temperature inside the cabinet reaches the cooling start point, the compressor starts,
and the refrigerant is compressed into high-pressure and high-temperature gas and enters the
condenser. The external fan carries away the heat. The gas turns into low-pressure and
low-temperature liquid after being cooled by the condenser and throttled by a throttle. After
the liquid enters the evaporator for heat absorption and the internal fan carries away the heat
inside the cabinet, the refrigerant turns into low-pressure and low-temperature gas. Then the
gas is compressed by the compressor. The cooling process repeats the preceding behavior.

1.6 Application Scenario

The PC300D air conditioner is developed for outdoor cabinets. It is designed to provide
cooling in application environments such as cabinets where devices generate a large amount
of heat, devices are sensitive to ambient temperature, and the inside needs to be completely
isolated from the outside.

2.1.3 Air Channels

For the internal circulation of the air conditioner, the hot air is absorbed from the top and the
cold air is exhausted from the bottom. For the external circulation, the external cold air is
absorbed from the bottom, and the hot air is exhausted from the top after heat exchange.

Figure 2-2 Air circulation

2.1.4 Control Logic

 Compressor operation: When the temperature inside the cabinet reaches the cooling start
point, the compressor starts to cool the cabinet interior. If the temperature inside the
cabinet is low, the compressor operates with a low cooling capacity. If the temperature
inside the cabinet is high, the compressor operates with a high cooling capacity. When
the temperature inside the cabinet is lower than the cooling shutdown point, the
compressor stops.
 Internal fan operation: After the air conditioner is started, the internal fan operates at low
speed in the air supply state and operates at high speed in the cooling state.
 External fan operation: The external fan adjusts its speed based on the temperature of the
condenser coil pipe. When the external ambient temperature is low, the external fan
decreases its speed to lower the noise.
 Heating startup: When the temperature inside the cabinet is lower than the heating
startup point, the heating will start; when the temperature inside the cabinet is higher
than the heating stop point, the heating will stop.

2.1.5 Communications Protocol and Parameters

The air conditioner communicates with the host computer using the Modbus protocol. The air
conditioner provides two RJ45 ports. One RJ45 port is used for communicating with the host
computer and the other is used for cascading.

2.5.4 Inspection Procedure

After the air conditioner starts cooling, inspect the cooling effect by testing the current under
corresponding working conditions.
1. When the temperature is normal (ambient temperature: 35°C): After the air conditioner
starts cooling, check whether the internal fan, external fan, and compressor operate
properly. Feel the air outlet temperature at the indoor side by hand. If you feel cold, the
air conditioner is cooling. Check that the system current is about 2.5±0.2 A using a
clamp meter. In normal temperature, the system current is close to the nominal system
current.
2. When the temperature is high (ambient temperature: 55°C): After the air conditioner
starts cooling, check whether the internal fan, external fan, and compressor operate
properly. Feel the air outlet temperature at the indoor side by hand. If you feel cold, the
air conditioner is cooling. Check that the system current is about 4.2±0.3 A using a
clamp meter. In high temperature, the system current is greater than the nominal system
current.

 The air conditioner starts cooling at 25°C by default. If the return air temperature inside the cabinet
is lower than 26°C, the air conditioner cannot start. Heat the indoor circulation air flow using a
heating device such as a hair dryer to a temperature higher than 26°C, and then the air conditioner
can start. During inspection, you do not need to set the air conditioner parameters.
 Check whether the air conditioner is cooling properly. After the air conditioner starts cooling, the
internal fan, external fan, and compressor operate properly. There is no abnormal sound. Check the
system current using a clamp meter. Feel the air outlet temperature at the indoor and outdoor sides
by hand. If the air outlet temperature at the indoor side is low and that at the outdoor side is high, the
air conditioner is cooling properly.

2.5.5 Mode Control

1. Standard mode
The product operates based on the default parameter settings.
2. Silent mode
The rotational speed of the fans is lowered to allow the entire system to operate with
minimum noise.
3. Energy saving mode
The time for starting cooling is delayed to save electric energy.
4. Power backup mode
The cooling capacity output is minimized to save electric energy.
The multi-working modes can be realized by setting over the screen or setting the parameter
according to the operating curve in the Modbus protocol. (standard mode: 0x0000; silent
mode: 0x0001; energy saving mode: 0x0002; power backup mode: 0x0003)

3.1.3 Control Logic

After the air conditioner is powered on, if the temperature inside the cabinet is lower than the
compressor start temperature, the air conditioner keeps in the standby state. If the temperature
inside the cabinet is higher than the compressor start temperature, the air conditioner starts
cooling.
 Standby
If the return air temperature is lower than the preset compressor start temperature minus
the hysteresis, the air conditioner is in the standby state. In this case, only the internal fan
operates at a low speed.
 Cooling
− If the return air temperature is higher than or equal to the preset compressor start
temperature, the air conditioner starts cycle cooling based on the temperature
setting.
− If the compressor runtime is less than the preset minimum time (3 minutes by
default), the air conditioner operates in cooling mode.
 Cooling stops
If the return air temperature is lower than the preset compressor start temperature minus
the preset compressor hysteresis, and the runtime is not less than the preset minimum
time (3 minutes by default), the compressor stops working. The compressor stops first,
and then the external fan stops working after some time.
 Heating
If the return air temperature is lower than or equal to the preset heater start temperature,
the air conditioner starts cycle heating based on the temperature setting.
 Heating stops

If the return air temperature is higher than the preset heater start temperature plus the
preset heater hysteresis, the heater stops operating.
 Working mode selection
The product has four working modes: standard mode (default), silent mode, energy
saving mode, and power backup mode. These four working modes can be selected over
the communications ports. 0: standard mode (default); 1: silent mode; 2: energy saving
mode; 3: power backup mode
− Standard mode: The air conditioner meets the standard cooling capacity and noise
performance specifications.
− Silent mode: The noise is lower than 50 dB(A) when the air conditioner is operating
normally. If the temperature is too high, the noise will reach the standard noise
indicator.
− Energy saving mode: The air conditioner controls the return air temperature to
increase by 5°C.
− Power backup mode: The air conditioner operates with the minimum cooling
capacity.
