Provide 3 reasons why employee selection is so very important? (Chapter 6)

When selecting a candidate for a position you are trying to make a person-job fit or
matching the persons skills and abilities to the job. According to the text the are three
main reasons for selecting the right employee. First employees with the proper skills
perform better. Second it is very costly to recruit, hire and train employees. Lastly, inept
hiring could have legal consequence either if you discriminate or are negligent (Dessler
167). I have experience with the first two when hiring and at my company we do run,
child abuse clearance, criminal background checks, and FBI fingerprint checks so we
do have to be careful with who we hire.
