Area 4 wins Futsal Gold Medal

The players' and coach's dedication paid off as Pontevedra of Area 4 won the
Futsal competition of the 2023 Palarong Panlalawigan, which was held at Talisay City
Gymnasium from March 31 to April 1, 2023.

The Pontevedra Futsal team was the favored to take home the championship
trophy, and they succeeded with a score of 9 versus San Carlos City of Area 1's total of
6. In addition, they successfully defended their title for the previous three years before
the pandemic.

The team will now represent Negros Occidental in the upcoming Regional Meet
2023 that will be held in Aklan this April. It is composed of students of Catalino
Soliguen National High School, Brgy. Miranda, Pontevedra, namely: Khey G. Balateria
(Goalkeeper), Kia G. Balateria, Aliexa Mae Casi, Richelle Ann A. De la Cruz, Annica Art
S. Gargar, Juilanne P. Geanga, Sofia Marie G. Gelera, Joyce P. Gemberva, Ferriella
Faye S. Jamili, Hannah Marie R. Montalban, Lian Gwyneth B. Soliguen, and Mhyelle
Ghwyn B. Soliguen.

“It was a great game. I am very happy for their performance and for defending
the title as champion”, said coach Juven Saludares in an open interview after the
game. Maricel Gemotra was also with the team as their chaperone.
