Research Objectives

The main objective of this study is to evaluate envirogel derived from lemongrass

(Cymbopogon citratus) as a desiccant material by Sol-Gel method.

Specifically, this study aims to accomplish the following objectives:

1. Convert lemongrass into hydrogel by Sol-Gel method considering the following:

1.1. Concentration of KOH solution

1.2. Extraction time

1.3. Gel Drying Temperature

1.4. Gel Drying Time

2. Evaluate the hydrogel from Sol-Gel method considering the following properties:

2.1. SiO2 Content

2.2. Percent Yield of Hydrogel

3. Convert produced hydrogel with highest percentage of SiO2 content derived from

lemongrass into envirogel considering the following:

3.1. pH Level of Methyl Violet

3.2. Impregnation Time of Methyl Violet

3.3. Envirogel Drying Temperature

3.4. Envirogel Drying Time

4. Evaluate the properties affecting the adsorption capacity of envirogel considering

the following:

4.1. Bulk Density

4.2. Particle Size

4.3. Pore Volume

4.4. Surface Area

5. Evaluate the adsorption capacity and color change of the envirogel

using desiccator.
