"Design Your Own Ideal School" Activity

Objective: To encourage students to think critically and creatively about what an ideal school
would look like, and to develop their skills in collaboration, communication, and problem-
solving.
Materials needed: Paper, pens/pencils, markers, and other art supplies (optional).
Instructions:
Divide the students into small groups of 5 and provide each group with paper and pens/pencils.
Instruct the groups to brainstorm and discuss what their ideal school would look like. What kind
of classes would they have? What kind of teachers and staff? What kind of facilities and
resources? What kind of policies and practices? Encourage them to think creatively and outside
the box. Once the groups have discussed their ideas, instruct them to create a visual
representation of their ideal school on the paper provided. They can use markers and other art
supplies to make their design as colorful and imaginative as possible. After the groups have
completed their designs, instruct them to present their ideal school to the rest of the class. They
should explain their design and the thinking behind it, and be prepared to answer questions from
the class. Once all the groups have presented, lead a discussion about the different designs and
what they have in common. Ask the students to reflect on what they have learned from the
activity and how it might influence their thinking about education in the future.
