Mission Kids Statement
History of Parcel 36 - Mission Kids has a legal right to continue using Parcel 36, as the
owners of Parcel 35 have since at least 1995, for:
b) access to the rear gate of Parcel 25 for delivery of heavy materials (previously roofing
materials, currently sand, gravel, woodchips, building materials, etc.) and emergency
egress.
c) vehicular access, including loading and parking, along the property lines of Parcel 25
and Parcel 136-141.
Vision for Parcel 36 - Mission Kids expects the conditions and access to remain the
same as at the point of purchase (as described above) until the City or Owner legally
determines otherwise. Should the City take over Parcel 36, we hope to participate in a
public process to determine future use that includes protected egress from the rear of
our property for Fire Safety. Mission Kids supports the creation of public greenspace
that is sustained by SF Rec and Park or a nonprofit such as SF Parks Alliance, and that
includes provision of typical parks services such as secure fencing, posted hours, and
routine grounds maintenance.
Redline we are not willing to compromise on - Public access without City approval,
maintenance and oversight (as with any other public space). Mission Kids is highly
concerned with increased public access to the parcel. Our concerns for the children's
safety include what are now regular occurrences of the following near and along our
fence line: dogs off leash, drug paraphernalia, individuals with mental illness, large
gatherings of people, conflicts with shouting.
