SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 9

OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates an understanding of how Anglo-American
literature and other text types serve as means of connecting to the world; also, how to use ways
of analyzing one-act play and different forms of verbals for him/her to skillfully perform in a
one-act play.
B. Performance Standards: The learner skill fully performs in one-act play through utilizing
effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria:
Focus, Voice, Delivery, and Dramatic Conventions.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. Define gerund
b. Identify the gerund and its uses in given sentences
c. Use verbal in the form of gerunds in making observations about the pictures that is
shown.
d. Demonstrate ease in using gerunds to sentences depicting pictures with local
relevance.

The Teacher will divide the class into two groups and give each group an activity which is
called “GUESS THE -ING WORD” and will give a slip of paper containing an – ing word.
And will let the students guess the action word. Two groups must have one
representative.

Motivation
The teacher will give another group activity called “Picture Analysis”.
The teacher will give some picture, and each group will write on a one whole sheet of
paper of what they have observed in the pictures, each group will be given one minute
to observe each picture, and three minutes to read their answers.

Lesson Proper
The teacher will ask the students what’s their lesson all about and let students define
what is gerund.
The teacher will present the learning objectives to the students.
The teacher will give video lesson presentation through TV and laptop.

C. Generalization:
The teacher will ask the students about what they understand about Gerund and its types.

D. Valuing
The teacher will ask the students how do they use gerund, and how important gerund in the
sentence.
The teacher will give word and change this word into gerunds then use them in meaningful
sentences.

E. Application
The teacher will give another group activity, and give each group a task. Each group need to
construct sentences using gerunds based on the picture and students are going to present a
dance routine on what the characters are doing.
The teacher will present a rubric on how the groups be grade.

F. Evaluation
The Teacher will give sentence to students and they should complete each sentence with a
gerund formed from the word before the sentence.

G. Assignment
The teacher will give a sentence and let the students underline the gerund and give its uses.
