I. INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT
Entrepreneurs have a moral obligation to reconcile and balance the rights and obligations
of their stakeholders such as customers, employees, suppliers, creditors, government, general
public and other stakeholders.
The following information and activities will surely help you as a student in the conduct of
entrepreneurial activities in the context of one’s accountability and social responsibility. You may
check your work and progress afterwards by checking the answer key and/or rubrics for scoring.
Be informed and responsible.

II. LEARNING SKILLS FROM THE MELCs

 Discuss the responsibilities and accountabilities of entrepreneurs to: customers,
employees, government, creditors, suppliers, consumers, general public and
other stakeholders (ABM_ESR12-IVi-l-3.1)

Responsibility refers to the duty or obligation to satisfactorily perform or complete a task

(assigned by someone, or created by one’s own promise or circumstances) that one must fulfil,
and which has a consequent penalty for failure(“What is responsibility? definition and meaning”,
2016).
Accountability refers to the obligation of an individual or organization to account for its
activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose the results in a transparent manner. It
also includes the responsibility for money or other entrusted property (“What is accountability?
Definition and meaning”, 2016).
Accountability vs. Responsibility
The main difference between responsibility and accountability is that responsibility can
be shared while accountability cannot. Being accountable not only means being responsible for
something but also ultimately being answerable for your actions. Also, accountability is
something you hold a person to only after a task is done or not done.
Accountability owes an explanation, while responsibility does not necessarily owe an
explanation. Accountability and responsibility are two terms commonly considered
interchangeable.

Advertisements were pulled after figuring in some controversies like ads for LBC

a. LBC’s Spelling Bee Commercial (2009)
The Department of Education (DepEd) called the attention of LBC management
for showing a commercial that encouraged wrong spelling among children. In a spelling
bee contest, the emcee played by Edu Manzano called the contestants to spell
remittance, affordable, and instant. They spelled out LBC (Luzon Brokerage
Corporation) instead. DepEd said that the commercial was encouraging wrong spelling
