Summary
FactoryTalk View software opens in Demo Mode

Problem
My FactoryTalk View software is running in Demo mode, although I have available activations.

It has been noticed that although there are available activations they may not be in use.

show up as 1 in the In Use column in the FactoryTalk Activation Manager.
When opening FactoryTalk View Studio for Machine Edition, the software opens in Demo mode. Activation
file is located Success:

FactoryTalk View Studio for Machine Edition (ME)
FactoryTalk View ME Station
FactoryTalk View Site Edition (SE)
Windows 7 64-bit (VMware virtual machine) / Windows 10
FactoryTalk Activation Manager

Solution
Solution 1
Restart the computer after the activation file has been hosted/installed.

Solution 2
FactoryTalk View Studio ME requires FactoryTalk Activation Manager at the same or higher Coordinated
Product Release (CPR) and Service Release (SR) levels.

For example, FactoryTalk View ME version 8.00 (CPR 9 SR 7) can use FactoryTalk Activation Manager version
4.02 (CPR 9 SR 10), but FactoryTalk View ME version 10.01 (CPR 9 SR 10) cannot use FactoryTalk Activation

Solution 3
1. Delete the .RNL files as indicated in 
FactoryTalk: Deleting the RNL Files.
2. Reboot the PC.

1. Repair FactoryTalk Services Platform.
2. Repair FactoryTalk Activations Manager.
3. Reboot theSuccess:

To repair software in Microsoft Windows follow this general procedure:

1. Make sure that your computer has access to the install files for the software being
repaired.
2. Left click Start-->Control Panel-->Programs and Features.
3. Then right click on the software to be repaired and select Change-->Repair.

Rename or delete any old and expired license files - see Solution 1 from FactoryTalk Activation Manager: Hosted
activations are not visible on a client computer
.

If the activation show up as 1 In Use rehost the activation according the Tech Note 

After rehost make the activation according the Tech Note

If license was activated as CodeMeter type - change it to Flexera if possible.

Solution 8

Rehost the license and re-activate the license.

Lastly, if all the above fails perform the following:
1. Disable your Antivirus and Firewalls.
2. Make sure theSuccess: This answer has been added to your Favorites
User Account Controls (UAC) are set to Never notify. See UAC can cause File Access or File
Discrepancy issues
 for more information.

3. Uninstall the FactoryTalk Services Platform (note the version).

4. Delete the RNAClient and RNAServer folders. They are found on the following directories:
Windows 7 / 8 /10:

C:\ProgramData\Rockwell

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Rockwell

5. Reboot your computer.


6. Re-install the same version of FactoryTalk Services Platform.
Note: It is very important that you re-install same version you removed.
