National Diploma Unit 7 Anatomy and Physiology for exercise and sport Assessment Objective One Task One

Criteria You are a top physiologist at a premier league club and are in charge of coaching the youth team. Your role is to provide the club and the trainees with a simple yet informative leaflet describing the structure and function of the skeletal system. The trainees need to understand how the information in the leaflet is relevant to them and their football training. Criteria You will be tested in an interview situation You will be asked to cover any of the aspects of the skeletal system covered in class

Knowledge understanding and skills You must include relevant information about the structure of the skeleton You must include a named diagram of the skeleton The axial and appendicular skeleton must also e discussed The 5 functions of the skeleton must also be included and related to sporting examples for the trainees. For example:Function of the skeleton- Protection. The cranium protects the brain a vital organ from injury. Such an injury could occur in football through a head collision whilst jumping for the ball You will be required to carry out some of your own research regarding the skeletal system. Such research could focus on the actual structure of bones, the size of bones, types of bones i.e. long, short, flat or irregular and the function of each type of bone. This additional research on your part will in large dictate your grade, however you can use all the information from lessons in the leaflet. The quality and depth of knowledge and application to real life sporting examples will be assessed therefore as much detail as possible is required
