ACTIVITY ESSAY: 1. As a student, cite your own experiences in the school
community and how can these experiences help you better understand school-community partnering that promotes student development.
Students, parents, and instructors gain significantly from
community involvement in schools. More than simply volunteering your time, participating in activities with your children strengthens the bond between children and parents. Community involvement in schools has numerous advantages, including improved academic engagement, increased long-term life success, assistance in selecting higher-level programs, and a reduction in school dropout rates.
When I was in elementary to high school, teachers had this thing
called events in the classroom, which was the card-giving day. My parents always went to school on card-giving days because they wanted to know my performance in our classroom, whether I failed, passed, or was excellent. In that way, I can say that my parents, not only mine but all parents, going to school to get the report card of their child really shows that they have the full support of the school, and with this, they can know the performance of their child, which improves the relationship between the parents as a part of the community in the school. Another experience that I have encountered is that every time there is a Parents and School Conference, people are talking about the events that should happen at school and what should be done in order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for their children. Because we all know that the environment or the classroom itself plays a vital role in the student’s development, they can focus on studying at school without a problem and feel comfortable learning. My experiences help me to understand that it is important that the community has support in school for the development of the students and vice versa.
In conclusion, “When schools, parents, families, and
communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and enroll in higher-level programs.” National Education Association (NEA) Teachers have a big responsibility to provide the best education to their students. However, when a community of parents is involved in helping and supporting the student’s success, they can commit mainly to providing the best academic information. APPLY: 2. Describe the relationship of the school and society using what you learned in the discussion. The student will then formulate a diagram to answer the question.
SCHOOL SOCIETY
John Dewey believed education was necessary for
society. He felt that education should be about social interactions and freedom of participation in the classroom for it to be effective. It wasn’t about transmitting information to the students but teaching them the methods of acquiring information for themselves.
A school is extremely important in ensuring the
development and education of individuals in society. It is in responsible for educating and molding future generations, as well as fostering an informed and productive people. Schools must also reflect and promote the values and culture of the society in which they function. Furthermore, schools often serve as community centers and resources, offering a variety of services and programs in addition to traditional education to promote the overall well-being and growth of the community.
Therefore, school education has to do with children's
social settings. A good society is the result of a good educational system, which is the result of a decent society. As a result, there must be strong connections between the school and society.
