Research study entitled students’ perception on use of technology in the


classroom at higher education institution in Philippines, Gorra (2016) focuses on the
challenges of using technology in classroom and its unintended consequences.
The study highlights on the consequences of students who uses technology in
classroom activities. The respondents were given computers and laptops for classroom
task. It was revealed that most of students in state colleges and universities in CARAGA
region in the Philippines were using technology in classroom for the purpose of positive
consequences, because they believe that the use of technology helps them in
enhancing learning related activities in classroom. On the other hand, negative
consequences also arise because of the excitement of the students to use technology it
cause disruptions inside the classroom. This kind of issue should be taken care by
incorporating it to the curriculum and motivate the faculty and staff to take efforts in
learning how to use this technologies as part of their daily lives in teaching and learning.
Thus, the most observed positive consequences were the instant messaging through
chatting, lesson enquiry about assignments, sending and receiving e-mails, research,
gathering and downloading data/files and sharing cultural experiences with other
through internet. Among the negative consequences listed by student respondents were
accessing social networking site during class, playing games, answering and returning
calls and downloading of copyrighted material. It is evident that technology helps in
enhancing learning related classroom activities but may also distract the students while
studying.

On the second research study presented entitled technological pedagogical


knowledge self-efficacy and continuance intention of Philippine teachers in remote
education amid COVID -19 crisis focused on technological pedagogical knowledge of
teachers in Mindanao with the sudden migration to various modalities. The study
revealed that majority of the respondents has high levels of TPK self-efficacy and
continuance intention but differed based on their demographic profiles. The result
indicated that a positive indication to sustained the use of technology amidst the COVID
19 was high even with culture of resistance to change, teachers chose to continuously
use technology in teaching and learning approach.
