Hungary accused of inflating the number of Ukrainian arrivals seeking EU funds

Hungary's far-right government has been accused of increasing the number of Ukrainian refugees it
seeks as it has asked the EU to fund its welfare. Viktor Orban's government is hostile to migrants, but
claimed that most refugees came to Hungary. The number is five to six refugees for every 100
Hungarian residents. The Hungarian Helsinki Committee says this is a false statistic because Hungary
was just a stopover for these refugees. It also states that the government has not taken certain steps
to inform refugees about their rights. Of course how the Hungarian government tried to impress the
EU with figures to get more funds. Many did not apply for EU protected status because they were
not aware of it, while those who applied have to wait up to 45 days for the process to be completed.
Meanwhile, charities and NGOs are providing social assistance, she said.

Do you think the numbers of migrants staying in Hungary are really high or is it just an attempt by
the government to get as much funding as possible?

What is your opinion on Orban's attitude towards migrants, do you think that the EU should react
with some punishment for such problems?
