The Influx of Ukrainian in Poland

Introduction

The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in a significant influx of refugees seeking
safety and assistance in neighboring countries, including Poland. This report aims to
present the situation related to refugees from Ukraine, who have been crossing the
border of Poland due to the war.  The account will contain a description of the scale of
this phenomenon and actions which have been taken to help, evaluation of what kind of
help is the most and the least effective. Additionally, it will be included assumptions
about how it could develop in the future. The data included in the report comes from
media such as the Internet and TV.

The scale of the Phenomenon and Current Response:

Thousands of individuals and families have crossed the Polish border to find shelter and
safety. As a consequence of the influx of refugees, Poland has implemented various
measures. Reception centers and temporary shelters have been established to provide
accommodation, food, and medical assistance. Legal support and language courses
have also been provided to facilitate integration into Polish society.

Effectiveness of Different Ways of Helping Refugees

Firstly, the refugees have experienced that direct help is the most effective, since they
need everything from food to a roof under their heads. Humanitarian organizations and
the Polish government have supplied medication, food, clothes and essential services at
the border for these people. Unfortunately, when the Ukrainians have been fleeing deep
into our country they have not counted on help from the government and they have had
to seek help from the Polish society. Our government haven’t ensured enough shelter
and most of the refugees have found shelter in civilian Polish houses.
What is more, the government ensures places of work for refugees and benefits like
500+ for their children. These initiatives help refugees establish new lives and contribute
to the host society.
On the other hand, some steps like equalizing pensions are not effective, because
some Ukrainian pensioners cross the border since their amount of retirement will be the
same as the Polish people.

Future Development of the Situation:

Unfortunately, nothing indicates that the refugees will come back to their country
because the war is conducting and even military experts claim that is a long-term war.
Moreover, some Ukrainian people do not declare that they come back to their country.
As a consequence of that, the Polish government should seek help from other countries
and try to relocate some refugees because it is too expensive for our country to support
these people.
Conclusion
The war in Ukraine has resulted in a significant influx of refugees seeking assistance in
Poland. The scale of the phenomenon has required a comprehensive response from the
government and humanitarian organizations. While temporary shelters and essential
services have proven effective in meeting immediate needs, long-term integration
measures and addressing specific challenges will be essential. International
cooperation will also be vital .
