THE ARCHITECT WHO BUILDS THE FUTURE

Not many people know who Bjarke Ingels is, but he is one of the most important
architects right now. He is contributing to the evolution of architecture and his
innovative projects are admired by professionals.
Bjarke Ingels was born in 1974 in Copenhagen, Denmark. When he was a child, he
dreamt to be a comic illustrator and a few years later, he decided to study architecture
at School of Architecture in Barcelona to improve his illustration skills. In 2001 he
returned to Copenhagen, and he created PLOT with Julien De Smedt. Finally in 2006,
he created his own studio called BIG, where he is working.
We can appreciate his incredible style that is based on a balance between traditional
and avant-garde architecture in museums, stadiums, skyscrapers and many other
buildings. During his career, he built countless buildings, including the Lego House in
Denmark, the Courtscraper in New York, the Warehouse 421 in Abu Dhabi and The BIG
Maze Museum in Washington D.C.
This Danish architect has received prestigious awards such as the European Prize for
Architecture, the Golden Lion and the Nykredit Architecture Prize.
Bjarke's amazing balance between art, architecture, urbanism and nature has made
him play an important role in architecture and thanks to his age he could be one of the
most important architects in history. This year, BIG is going to build the future
headquarter of the Joint Research Centre in Seville.
