Your Target
At the end of this activity, you will gain competence in managing time, space, and resources to provide an
environment which is appropriate to the learners and conducive to learning.
Your Map
To reach your target, do the following tasks:
Observe a class.
Using a checklist, find out the evident classroom components.
Describe how the classroom is structured / designed to allow everyone
to participate in the learning activities.
Relate the data in your checklist to the learners’ behaviour.
Reflect on how classroom management affects learning.
Your Tools
Use the activity form provided for you to document your observation.
1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristic of the learners. Note their ages.
The characteristic of each learners differ from their ages. Those learners that are still young are
very talkative and hyper but those learners who are at the right age they really able to manage
to minimize things and their actions.
2. How many boy are there? How many girls?
In the classroom there are 11 boys and 9 girls this counting is base only on SET A.
3. Focus on their behaviour, are they already able to manage their own behaviour?
Base on my observation they still not able to manage their own behaviour since they are still
grade 8 students who are still young their ages are more or likely 13- 14 and most of their
behaviour are still need a guidance of the teacher .
4. Can learners already work independently?
As I observe, on some part they can work independently but in the other things they really still
need guidance of the teacher especially in decision matter.
5. Describe their span of attention
The Learners span of attention is just short especially on the time that the teacher is discussing
lesson they easily do other things when the lesson doesn’t interest the students and the teacher
use a boring method of learning.
6. Look into their listening skills and ability concentrate
Though they are still young, the learners are very attentive and has a good listening skills that
why they have the ability to concentrate on a discussion for them to understand the lesson.

very tiring to on a stair
2. Classroom Rules The only Classroom that I observe is There are only less classroom rules and by
that “Listen while others are talking.” that the students will not be trained to be
responsible in following the rules.
3. Classroom Procedures The Teacher doesn’t follow or use any The Learners would lead into time that they
classroom procedures didn’t know what to do and follow.

the same it will lead to a noisy classroom
since they able to sit beside their friends

Your Analysis
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’ behaviour?
The classroom organization and routines really affects the learner’s behaviour because the organization
and routines will serve as their basis inside the classroom and what kind of behaviour they should
show.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when he / she designs the classroom organization and
routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind?
The teacher should have in mind when she design the classroom organization and routine should be
the comfort of the students as well as make the classroom organization into more nice and has a
conducive environment for the learners to learn.
3. Which behaviour strategies were effective in managing the behaviour of the learners? In motivating
students? Why were they effective?
The effective strategies in managing the behaviour of the learners is that always appreciate the learners
rather than scolded them many time cause if the teacher always appreciates the achievements of the
learners no matter how small or big it is the learners will gain more confidence and by that the learners
will able to like more the subject being taught as well as the teacher who teaches them.
Your Reflection
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade / year level do you see yourself? What routines and procedures
would you consider for this level? Why?
As a future mentor and educator, I can see myself teaching in Grade 7 level. And the routines and procedures that I want to consider
are “checking their attendance”, “Raising of hand if they want to answer”. “Lunch or Recess break time” these are the procedures and
routines that I want to highlight since I want to monitor my students time to time.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose these rules?
The rules that I want to implement in the Grade 7 level are first “Listen while others are talking”, “Always make reading as a habit”, “Do
not disturb others” and lastly “Play in a safer manner”. I choose these kind of rules because I know that Grade 7 students are still need
a guidance and attention of the teacher since they still doesn’t know how to handle things and especially their behaviour
