Vikram Sarabhai was born on 12th August 1919

He Died at the age of 52 on 30 December 1971 due to cardiac arrest
Vikram Sarabhai was one of the greatest He was honoured with Padma Bhushan
Scientist of India - He was considered as in 1966 and the Padma Vibhushan
The Father of the Indian Space Program (posthumously) in 1972.

Sarabhai started a project for the


fabrication and launch of an Indian
satellite. As a result, the first Indian Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai
satellite, Aryabhata,
was put in orbit in 1975 from a Russian
cosmodrome.

Sarabhai was also instrumental in the establishment of the


Indian Institute of Management ( IIM) in Ahmedabad,
and the Gujarat University . He also helped established
the Indian National Committee for Space Research
(INCOSPAR) which was later reorganized into the ISRO
Indian Space Research Organisation.
